I'm looking forward to this one... and how you guys will like or not like it. This will be my THIRD relisten. For me, the narrator is perfect for the dead-pan delivery. if you are eye reading it, I hope you enjoy it! My last listen was back in 2023 - which I think I did in lead up to doing the more recent ones that had come out at the time. I just looked, yes I did books 1-4 in 2023... and then did the most recent book 5 in Dec 2024.
I'm ready to dive back into where it all started in the twisted, dark, funny as hell (to me) mind of Rhiannon!
I started. Only 3% in… but 2 quick thoughts1. I love the lists at the start of chapters. … I’ll say more about this later on.
2. Of all the funny, snarky lines… I love this one when talking about the need to have friends. They’re the Wilson to my skinny toothless homeward bound Tom Hanks
4% .... (view spoiler)
2nd chapter (Monday, Jan 1) ... still 4%
(view spoiler)

I so agree!!!
her one-liners come at me so fast, I have to sometimes stop & process!!chapter "Friday, 2 February" - 14%

🤣🤣🤣
I'm currently at 21%. So I am enjoying it, but sadly am not laughing at all. I have read other books with similar types of characters that are much funnier. Two that come to mind are Jane Doe and You'd Look Better As a Ghost. So far this is just meh for me.
Also it took me a minute, but I finally get what is happening at her parents' house. Someone can hold a grudge!
I am really enjoying this book. I hate that Jessica, you are not enjoying it. She is cracking me up.
I wouldn’t say I laugh…. But I appreciate the snark. So I find it entertaining. And I think the narration and dead pan delivery helps this.
Not a fan of how negative she is about her body and is constantly referencing having to eat salads or how an eclair made her gain 2 pounds.
I mean, I guess given that she’s a psychopath, and those are the lines that you picked up on….. I mean, those are her most normal intrusive thoughts. 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe i just had too high of expectations going in. I do have a pretty dark sense of humor. I am not not liking the book. Just not as much as I was expecting to.
All her comments/thoughts are inappropriate… and I guess those are the mildest. But I can see not liking it if those stand out the most. This book, and Rhiannon, is generally loved or hated. I like her, and will likely give the book 4 stars again.
Jessica wrote: "Ok, so I have been smirking a bit. The tile joke at 40% and a couple of other comments."She grows on you… like a fungus. 🤣
Ok so there is definitely something wrong with me. My favorite comments are the ones comparing people/places to/containing STIs.

Finished! Ok so it does end on a cliffhanger, but i may have looked up the 2nd book and the they tell you what happens in the 1st line of the book two synopsis. I am not against continuing, but not running to continue either. I did end up giving it 4 stars, but really more a 3.75.
I'm almost finished.... this was a book... good or bad... that was FULL of one-liners where sometimes you'd have to ask yourself if you heard what you heard
FINISHED. Still a solid 4 stars for me. And NOW I remember that it totally ends on a cliffy and made me scream before i could get my hands on book 2 the first time!
Dede wrote: "I thought this book was good. I think I overlooked some of the one liners she talked about."I think in part they stand out more for me because of the narration. Best narrator for Rhiannon IMO.

I am not against continuing, but not..."I'm happy you ended up not hating it. I sort of thought, me knowing you & your tastes, that this would land well with you. Maybe you had to warm up to her some. I mean, she's out there!
