Starting a buddy read for book 1 in the Matthew Corbett series, with the plan to continue on with the series afterwards. Everyone is welcome and you can read at your own pace, just remember to hide spoilers and tag them with where they are in the book.

I fell asleep reading last night in the middle of ch4. On your spoiler, I know right?! I was expecting it to be bad, but that was worse, haha. So this time period is fascinating to me. I can’t imagine living in this time. It feels like you would be living in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow all the time. Something always scaring you!

I hope you both like the book and series. It's a lot of fun and the characters are fantastic.

Thanks, Ginger! It is a very interesting beginning so far.
Stopping at chapter 10 tonight. Well, I'm making myself stop, lol. I'm so engrossed in this story right now. But of course I love stories revolving around witch trials, so it's not hard to keep my attention. I'm enjoying getting to know Matthew and his background and how he came to be the magistrate's clerk. And, oh boy, (view spoiler)

And the witch trial storyline is so fascinating. Literally feels like a no-win situation for everyone. I have to admit, everything that is happening is making me suspicious of what’s going on!
So, I didn’t manage much reading this weekend. I’m only up to ch11. I continue to find it interesting that I’m suspicious of everyone in the book at this point, haha (well, except (view spoiler)
Yes, same. I got caught up in Hill's King Sorrow this weekend, lol.I am at chapter 12. Hopefully I can read one or two chapters tonight. And I agree, I don't trust anyone at this point, lol.
I’ve made it up to ch17. Definitely a slow burn with this one. I can’t decide what I think might be happening.
I'm at 16 and, yes, I agree. I'm getting all frustrated with how she's being judged, just like when I read Slewfoot by Brom. People were crazy back then, lol. The one thing I'm finding slightly annoying is that McCammon feels the need to describe every single thing a person is wearing. What's up with that?
He does keep doing that, haha. Really driving home that setting of the 1600’s. I am definitely ready for Matthew to step up and become her champion!

I'm at chapter 30 and all of a sudden, there is a LOT going on. The one thing I do wish is that Matthew's character would be just a little bit older. I know some 20 yr olds can be brilliant, but for back then, it just seems a little odd that he's being smarter and more mature than some of the adults. Just a tiny nitpick but it's not ruining the reading experience.
Well, I’ve had no chance to read on this trip so far. I think I’m still in ch29. Hoping to make some progress tomorrow
Boy, this one has totally sucked me in! I'll probably finish tomorrow unless something crazy happens with my Saturday schedule.😏 Man, SO much going on.
