I don't think I've ever read this particular Seuss!
& don't forget everyone, that Death in the Andamans is our other Christmas read!

& when I went to enter this book I discovered we had already read it back in 2019- Tadiana took the lead.
So this will be our first reread that isn't a M.M. kaye book.
As always, I will make a fresh thread.

I knew I’d read it before, wasn’t sure which group, thank you! My memory is a sieve - just about done with my reread, I’ve enjoyed it.

I've skimmed the YT video, just to make sure it was in good condition. It is available from my library system as well though.

Probably too late for us to get a copy, and it’s really more of a collection of short stories, only two definitely Christmas themed, but I reread Christmas at High Rising by Angela Thirkell almost every year, because I find it hilarious!I know you’re not a huge fan of Thirkell, Carol, but the “main” story is of a trip to London for a Christmas pantomime; it has George Knox, that delightful old gas bag, treating Laura and her obnoxious schoolboy son Tony to the show and a meal after.
Tony, of course, is at his obnoxious chattering best (or worst, depending on taste), as is George; poor Laura Morland is stuck in the middle, having to control her offspring, while being suitably gracious and grateful to the self-centered and emotionally needy George…
Enough to make the reader grateful , no matter how many goofy or awkward relatives or colleagues one must deal with at the holidays, at least you’re not Laura Morland!
Maybe next year, if anyone is interested.

Sure, remind me nearer the time!
Unfortunately this title isn't one of the Thirkell's on Faded Page & it is pricey on Amazon, so I'm unlikely to read, but I can set it up for you to lead. :)
& I had thought I had a Christmas short story sorted (this one has been on one of my to-read lists for quite some time.)
Uncle Noah's Christmas Party but it is a novella, not a short story (available at archive.org)
Something else for next year maybe.
Edit - for some reason Uncle Noah won't link properly.

Yes, & even with all my prowling around op & second hand book shops, I've never come across a single Thirkell.
Ok, availability definitely a problem-sorry ladies! I’ll keep my eyes and ears open for any other Christmas-themed retro books. The only one that leaps to mind and should be widely available is Hercule Poirot's Christmas. I also often reread
by Georgette Heyer.Sorry, we may have already done those!
