My thoughts on A Monster Calls: this is a brilliant, gorgeously crafted book about grief. The illustrations add a lot, atmospherically. This book is a short read but nonetheless manages to be very impactful. Full disclosure- I technically already read this book as a middle schooler but remembered next to nothing about it. It definitely hits harder now. I would go so far as to say this should be required reading for adults.
