I am sooooo sorry. I knew Nicholas Sparks was an emotional read, but come on! Jasper's backstory had me drowning in emotions. I had just picked up another book by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan and got caught up in the idea of Nicholas Sparks stories. I had to wait for the library edition to become available, so I have just finished this. I am glad for the happy ending. A little disappointed the teens did not get a better punishment.
Overall, it was an impactful read. Did not necessarily go the way I thought it would from the blurb, but I would recommend it to friends, with a sob warning.

Whether you’re already a Sparks fan or discovering him for the first time, this book promises moments that linger, characters you’ll want to root for, and the kind of emotional depth that fits beautifully with the close of the year.
