Great Lord Cthulhu (great_lord_cthulhu) | 4 comments hi everyone, first time posting here.

i have adhd and keep doing this thing where i get halfway through a book, put it down for a few weeks, pick it back up and have absolutely no idea whats happening. like who are these people and why are they upset.

happened to me on holiday with children of ruin. loved the portiids but couldnt remember the plot so i tried using chatgpt to summarise and it just made stuff up and confused me more.

got so annoyed i ended up building a little tool that summarises books up to whatever page you're on without spoiling anything after. no signup or anything just upload and go. been using it for a few weeks and its genuinely helped me actually finish books instead of abandoning them.

its at app.wherewasi.co.uk if anyone wants to try it. still pretty basic but it works.

mostly just curious if other people have this problem or if its just me being a disaster at reading.

Brooklyn | 1 comments That happens to me a lot as well! I tend to go back a few pages to figure out what’s happening. Your app sounds really cool and like it would be really helpful!

thanks! yeah the flipping back thing gets exhausting especially with complex books. feel free to try it if you want. would love to hear if it actually helps or if its missing something obvious.

also open to feedback on what would make it more useful for neuro-spicy readers specifically

honestly i think way more people have this problem than admit it! we just assume everyone else has perfect memory lol

give it a try if you want. its very basic but it works. curious if it helps non-(diagnosed?)-neurodivergent readers too

Richard (richoman25) | 5 comments I can remember the plot of every book I've ever read. I think that has to do with my Hyperlexia.

I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday, & sometimes even the conversation I'm in the middle of.

That use case is perhaps outside my capabilities xD
