🧭 YOUR MISSION: NAVIGATE THE TIMELINES
This year, you’ll be tracking two interconnected journeys through history: the Shared Timeline of our entire community and your team’s own Personal Timeline.

🧭 THE SHARED TIMELINE (Our Collective Story)
Every book read by any member advances our collective journey. We all start together in Prehistoric Times. As books are logged, we’ll watch our community progress through eras, filling in centuries and witnessing key historical moments together. This is our group’s legacy.

⏱️ YOUR TEAM’S TIMELINE (Your Crew’s Legacy)
Simultaneously, your team will chart its own path through history. Every book your crew reads claims a spot on your private timeline. Your reading choices write your crew’s unique chronicle.

🚀 Time Crews
• Form Your Crew: Assemble a team of 5 members! You can recruit teammates or be placed on a team. Crews are balanced based on individual BPM (Books Per Month).
• Reading Mission: This year's challenge is not competitive with other teams, just yourselves, but you'll still need to be able to read at least one book per month, with a maximum of 11 books per month allowed per member across the year.

⚠️ Commitment Pledge ⚠️
A year is a long voyage — we get it. The monthly reading requirement is kept light so we can focus on fun, friendship, and fantastic stories. That said, please only enlist if you can commit to at least one book per month for the full year. Your crewmates are counting on you! While we understand temporal anomalies (a.k.a. life) happen, we value dedication to the timeline.

Each month, we’ll jump to a different era or temporal theme — from "Prehistoric Times" in January to "Timeless Classics" in December. Each includes special reading missions to fuel your curiosity!

While collaboration is key, friendly milestones add excitement:

Teams can earn bonus "years" for both the Shared and their Personal Timelines by meeting monthly criteria. These bonuses let your crew leap forward or strategically fill gaps in your story.

Please NOTE: You are free to have whatever BPM total for your team that you want, but if you are all at or below 5 BPM, you will either need to read BIG BOOKS and do lots of bonuses, or be content to possibly not fill your team timeline. This is completely up to you, and if you want to read for the sake of reading with friends, that is 100% ok. Just an FYI for those more competitive-minded!

I want to note that I'm noticing a lot of chatter about competition vs relaxed challenges/team, so I'd like to weigh in.

You can 100% use this thread to craft a team that meets your vision. If you are very "competitive" and want to be on a team that chats a lot, and works together and tries to get every single point, then put that out there and ask for like-minded teammates.

If you're more laid-back, are not likely to want to team-read, then say that. I am happy to help coordinate so that the teams feel balanced and right for each member!

I’d like a ‘competitive’ team where tips are exchanged, goals are pursued together and an occasional buddy read is organised. I’m not the one who wants to win, but I want to challenge myself and give and find encouragement.
I read more than 11 books p/m but maybe not for each and every genre.

My team last year was super, but they like more laid back, so I’m looking for a new team.

Thanks... I just posed the question to the team to see what their goals are.

Me? I'm competitive, chatty, like to focus on team goals, bonus points & BRs. And I realize that can be extremely annoying for people who aren't. And I know this. So maybe is best to find out early.

If I need to just be chill & casual, and frankly, on a team of solo players, I can deal I guess. But then I will really need to dial back my involvement.

I think I'm right in the middle. Laid back, but still will work with the team.

I want to be "chatty" and work actively with my team, but I know I don't read much (3-5 bpm). I will cut back on the amount of challenges I participate in in 2026, so I'll be able to focus on this one and get a lot of bonus points.

I guess I want a "chatty" team that is also okay with me not reading a lot. I'm afraid of slowing down the team if they want to get as many years as possible.

I'm similar to Benedicte. I would like "chatty" team but I'm a slower reader. I usually read around 6 bpm but I'm not sure if they will all fit into a challenge (but I'll try!).

But I'm going to be happy anywhere you put me :)
