The votes are in and the new monthly reading challenge is GEOGRAPHY! As a reminder, for every month, two letters have been randomly selected, and members should pick a book that takes place in a location starting with one of those letters. We will accept countries, states, provinces, regions, cities, as well as fictional locales (e.g. Lilliput, Wonderland, Shikasta, etc.). I skipped "X," but if there are locations I am not aware of, let me know and I'll throw it in a random month.

Members should determine the settings from the books they are interested in, and everyone is encouraged to share their findings to help others find good titles.

Diane shared a geographical breakdown of the list by country and state: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....

Participation points are only for one book a month and remain the same as for the keyword challenge:

1 point each for reading 1st and 2nd book
2 points each for 3rd and 4th book
3 points each for 5th and 6th book
4 points each for 7th and 8th book
5 points each for books 9-12

NOTE: Scoring is cumulative so if you miss a month, you'll have to start over with the scoring points. You do not need to plan your list in advance, though many of us will :) You may pick which book you want to read the month of and changes are allowed but please finish the book in the month you are taking points.

January: O and P
February: L and W
March: Z and A
April: V and Q
May: S and H
June: J and R
July: N and I
August: B and U
September: T and Y
October: E and C
November: F and D
December: G and K

Jenna | 292 comments Thanks Jane! I have already having fun starting to hunting this out. Trying to decide if I'm going a) argue that Robinson Crusoe basically takes place on the Orinoco River and b) if I'm ambitious enough to try and read it over my one week vacay :) Other option I'm considering is Reveries of a Solitary Walker, which is a solid Paris pick.

I'm glad you're enjoying it -- I am too! I would let you make your case for the Orinoco River because - hey! - you figured that out! I am going with Rabbit Run for January (Pennsylvania). Once I have that down, I can tackle the rest of the series.
