I'm fine with just a raffle, one entry for every 12 books you read, up to a maximum number of entries representing average number of 12 sets of books read -- for example, if most managed at least 24, then the maximum raffle entries for all is 2. A few managed about 1 a week which could be 4 entries but I'd like to see something more balanced so that the slower readers have better odds.
I like the idea of a raffle!Question: Are we still getting credit for the points we've earned during the challenge?
I have already calculated all of the items needed, so of course, my preference is to continue the game as stated all the way to the end according to the rules posted. We played a game all year, and it seems not that big of an ask to finish it as planned. If people don't care to post stats, that's fine. It's up to them. My goal, which I don't consider particularly creative, was to travel to 12 countries (and I didn't change it each set of 12). I recognized I might not be able to complete it for each set (I got "stuck" going Northerly directions in Canada!)
Since I've already done it, here are my stats:
1st set of 12:
Distance traveled per 12 books: 4291.3 miles
# Countries: 11
Points per 12 books: 4.83
2nd set of 12:
Distance traveled per 12 books: 4897.3 miles
# Countries: 10
Points per 12 books: 3.75
3rd set of 12: 5378.25 miles
# Countries: 13
Distance traveled per 12 books: 3.75
Points per 12 books: 3.75
4th set of 12:
Distance traveled per 12 books: 3999.1
# Countries: 12
Points per 12 books: 3.17
I completed 48 books.
Points for the whole year of the challenge: 186
Total distance traveled for entire game: 222,791 miles
Note: I finished my last book today and ended up where I started - in Reno, Nevada.

I am fine with whatever is decided although Joy certainly is right that she and others spent a good deal of time calculating their travels. My own would be fairly simple to do and I will be happy to do so if need be.
Joy has made an excellent argument. I still have my last book to read, review, and post -- this weekend. I find during the work week harder these days to get much reading done let alone anything else here. Most of my calculations are already done anyway as I did them as I went along in each of my tracking posts. I also might have a shot at the theme prize as I read crime fiction in every country I visited, and a few were challenges to identify one!Ultimately whatever is decided, I'm fine.
I will continue as first announced rather than doing a raffle. If you have read at least 12 books, please post your results by Wednesday, December 10 on this thread.

I will make sure I do.
I'll chose the first 12 books. My goal was to only travel to places I've never been personally. As easy as that goal should have been...I did not hit that goal.

I never quite managed a goal but I was happy with my reads.

Most creative goals.
Greatest distance traveled per 12 books.
Least distance traveled per 12 books.
Points for tag match per 12 books.
Points for the whole year of the challenge
This at this point of the year just seems like a lot to tally up for everyone.
Should we do some sort of raffle and wrap it up or do you still want to go with the original.
I would say that the participants had to read at least 12 books and maybe make an entry for every 12.
How is everyone feeling?
