Bookish Blocks
This is a month long challenge, running from the 1st of May until the 31st of May 2015.
The aim of the game is to cross as many blocks off the board as you can, by reading books that match the descriptions.
Completing a line will earn you bonus points, so it's worth taking this into consideration when planning which books you're reading for which square.
People who have played this challenge before, may notice that the corner blocks have a little red dot in the corner, which wasn't there before. This is because we've added a little twist - These blocks are harder to complete, and earn you double points!
The Descriptions
Descriptions in more detail:
Mod's names; Read a book written by an author called Sarah or Abbie / Read a book with a main character called Sarah/Abbie (Any spelling is fine)
Siblings;Read a book where the main character has a sister/brother/step sister/step brother/sister in law/brother in law
From page to screen;Read a book that has been (or is being) made into a film
New release;Read a book published 4 weeks before the challenge started (May 1st 2015) / Read an ARC.
Feeling it;Read a book with an emotion/a way you feel in the title. Examples;
Love triangle;Read a book which features a love triangle
Quickie;Read a book which is over 100 pages, but under 250
Indie author;Read a book by an indie author (Or a book which has less than 4000 ratings on Goodreads.)
Title starts with your initial; Read a book where the title starts with your first initial
New author;Read a book by an author you've never read before
Buddy;Read a book with someone else in our group
Multiple POV; Read a book which has more that one POV (Point of view)
GBR/BR&R;Take part in one of this months GBR's/Take part in one of our BR&R's
Dress love; Read a book which has a dress you love on the cover
Before Goodreads; Read a book that was published before you joined Goodreads
Looking good; Read a book which has an average rating of 4 or higher on Goodreads
Elements; Read a book where the cover has one of the elements on - Fire, Water, Earth, Wind (Windswept hair/leaves in the air are fine for wind(
Mental Illness; Read a book where the main character suffers from a mental illness
Standalone; Read a book that isn't part of a series
Freebie; Read a book which you got for free (Kindle freebie, library, Netgalley, Edelweiss, Author, ect)
Retelling; Read a retelling. Examples;
Harder ones;
Rainbow; Read 6 books which have covers the colours of the rainbow; Red, green, blue, orange, purple, yellow (Covers must have 50% or more of selected colour to count)
Seeing double; Read two books which have the same cover/Read two books that have the same model on the cover (Can't be in the same series.)
Read a trilogy;Read a trilogy
Chunky; Read three books which are all over 450 pages long
Ways to earn points:
• Each book read and reviewed will be worth one point.
• Each buddy read you have participated in will also be worth one point.
• Each line you complete, will earn you 5 bonus points.
Lines can be made by reading 5 books downwards, 5 books sideways, and 5 books diagonally.
Rules:
• Books must be read from the 1st of May 2015 to the 31st of May 2015.
• You can only use a book once.
• Books must be over 100 pages to count.
• 1 reread allowed
• Buddy read must take place in our group to count.
