Sheila also recommended the series Down Cemetery Road (from the same folks that brought us Slow Horses), and I recommended Task (from the makers of Mare of Easttown). Also at the very end, someone—Sheila also?—recommended the movie Train Dreams.
Here's what I have:Talk of poetry; specifically how journals with very long submission times can sabotage poems of very current topics. Also, are poems more likely to be of the moment than other writing
Jane's foot is healing right on schedule(?)
Old fashioned names (what fun!)
Goodreads dastardly changes coming soon and how they will affect our moderators and practices.

Careless People -- I didn't write down an author, so this could be the correct title but the wrong book link.
Mostly only Jane heard the story of my computer struggles, but the short version is that I lost the use of the keyboard with Windows 11, and it took weeks to solve. So I have not been looking in here for most of the last month. Now I'll start fixing that!

You're on the right track, but that's the wrong book link. I'm pretty sure the one that was mentioned was Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism. It's about the early days of Facebook. (I started it but had to return it to the library before finishing.)
Thank you!! I miss the Zoom calls but I will be there for the Spring get-together! And hopefully a Zoom call soon.
Thanks Lynn. I was up and down thru the entire ZOOM, I had soup on the stove. It is getting cold now!

If you're interested in the convention, please see the note I posted under "Upcoming Conventions".
So sorry I missed the meeting. Forgot to set a reminder and got caught up in paperwork. Sounds like it was a fun one Hopefully my brain will act better in January! I just looked up Careless People and added it. Looks good.
I'm not sure I received the notice, or if I responded if I did get it.My husband passed away Thanksgiving weekend and I was on the road to Texas for his burial for this zoom session.
Back home in Wisconsin now and trying to catch up.
I was so sorry to hear about your husband, BC. I can't imagine how tough this has made your holiday season, but I'll be thinking of you. Just in case you missed the notes elsewhere, I'm starting to plan a convention in Iowa City for the 3rd weekend of April. I'll keep you posted and hope you will be able to join us there.

We talked about our grandmothers' names.
We talked about people who won't go to see famous and fabulous sites. My story was about one of the trips I took with students to Europe. We were in Rome and two of my girls refused to visit the Sistine Chapel since they had never heard of it. They found a girl from another school and went shopping instead. Spoko had a great story about his son and the Grand Canyon.
We did mention a few series. I talked about HUNTING WIVES which is really quite a silly series, but it does take place in Texas. Tonya and Gina, both Texas women, were there, so I thought they might be interested.
The rest of you will have to fill in.
