It's about the false promises of a college education. The author is a formerly frum man who became an English professor at Yale. He is soon transferring to an all women's college in California. He believes the small liberal arts colleges do a better job of educating their students than the Ivy League.
This is one of my favorite quotes about college. It's from Helen Keller:
“In college, there is no time to commune with one's thoughts. One goes to college to learn, it seems, not to think. When one enters the portals of learning, one leaves the dearest pleasures–solitude, books and imagination–outside with the whispering pines. I suppose I ought to find some comfort in the thought that I am laying up treasures for future enjoyment, but I am improvident enough to prefer present joy to hoarding riches against a rainy day.”

Hello. This book about colleges and universities is a strong book. My friend who studies at the university said that there is a difficult to study at the university because the teachers ask him to write a lot. A friend says that he is using Essay Examples to write a lot as the teachers want. My friend gets good grades at the university due to the fact that he is following examples of professional works. Thanx .
