Authors deserve our kudos! They sweat each word, battle the unforgiving stare of a blank white page/screen, meet deadlines, yet from these and all other demands, they provide us with ENDLESS titles of all genres and subjects. Let’s honor them by reading at least one of their books in our AUTHOR OF THE MONTH challenge.


CHALLENGE PROCESS/FAQ
✍ We’ll start taking your Author nominations on the 10th of each month, keeping nominations open for 1 week. We’ll set up a poll on the 18th, allowing for 10 days of group voting. The authors who’ve already been featured will be eliminated.

✍ Authors who have had 5+ published books will be accepted, to allow for greater opportunities for the group to read AOTM’s books. Debut authors can be recommended for BOTM, MOD reads, or buddy reads. Recommended authors must have a Goodreads book page.

✍ Each month, members may nominate a maximum of 3 authors. Authors not selected will be carried over into following months’ polls. After 6 unsuccessful cycles, an author will be removed from the nomination list, though they may be re-nominated after 6 months.

✍ Members must select at least one book to read/listen to during the month to participate. MODs will keep a spreadsheet of members participating in each month’s AOTM challenge, giving weight to the total number of books read in the calendar year. In case of ties, the member who read the most pages/hours. Starting in 2027, the winner of the 2026 AOTM challenge will select the January AOTM (fitting 5+ books published criteria). The remaining 11 months of the year will follow the polling pattern.

✍ Members can begin reading a book by the announced Author prior to 1st of each month, but the book must be finished on/after the day of announcement to qualify.

✍ If there are less than 3 authors nominated in any given month’s nomination process, MODs will gather authors at random from members current reads.

MODs may add or tweak this challenge (anyone up for optional tasks..to increase 'points' for AOTM challenge?) from time-to-time with changes to be noted in MOD announcements.
