Fishface | 758 comments I have a friend who turned me on to his interest in reading books about specific things through history. He started by lending me his copy of Cod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World. But now it's turned into a yearly challenge to find him other such books. I found him one for this year (Foreign Fruit: A Personal History of the Orange) and I finally found another book I thought he would like, about clay. But in this well-read corner of the internet, what other books like this have youse come across? He has already read a book on the complete histories of tea, salt, and rice, but he has not followed up on his GR membership very well so I'm not clear on what other books he's read or what else is out there for him to read. Any thoughts, peeps?
