From Friday 12th December 2025 at 12.01 am (in your local time zone) you start keeping track of how many pages you read until Thursday 1st January 2026 at 11.59 pm. However, you can start the readathon at any time during this period – make it as flexible as you like.

In the December 2025 Read-a-thon thread, you will post your progress, telling everyone what you're reading and how many pages. Then all readers' totals will be tallied throughout the event to reach the goal of 10,000 pages.

This is a relaxed read-a-thon; it doesn't matter if you read 20 pages or 100, and it also doesn't matter if we reach our goal – it’s simply about enjoying what you would normally be doing anyway.

Once the Read-a-thon thread is posted and unlocked, make sure to add your name to the thread if you would like to be included. If you simply stumble onto the thread, then please, join in!

*An easy way to keep track is by using the Currently Reading feature on Goodreads, entering your page number at the end of each day.
**For those who read by eReader, use the paperback/hardcover page count listed on Goodreads for your total. Calculate by percentage to work out your page number read.
***For audio listeners, check the number of pages listed on Goodreads, then divide that number by the number of CDs or hours to estimate your pages-per-time. Don't forget to post your daily totals or your full week's tally on the thread.

I’ve just discovered a handy hack for anyone who enjoys listening to Audible Originals that don’t have a paperback or Kindle edition. If you ask ChatGPT to estimate how many pages an audiobook would be based on its length (for example, “Guess how many pages an Audible audiobook would be if it was x hours x minutes long”), it gives you a page estimate. This is really useful for logging these audiobooks during readathons.
