This or That Reading Challenge discussion

This: Read a book with an unknown, nameless character.
That: Read a book with a character list.

For this month's challenge I chose This: Read a book with an unknown, nameless character, for which I read Ice by Anna Kavan, which is told by a an unnamed narrator chasing after an unnamed woman at a time when the world appears to be ending by being covered in ice. The novel is an example of "slipstream fiction", which blends speculative fiction with literary fiction, and typically substitutes straight-forward story telling for a more dream-like narrative, so the feeling is more like you're just be carried along. If you are open to that kind of experimental writing then you may enjoy this, but it'll probably not be for everyone's taste. I give it points for originality and the overall sense of strangeness the author conveyed. 3 3/4 stars
