For this month's challenge I chose This: Read a book with a month in the title, for which I read The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow ("March"). This was my first read of a book by Saul Bellow who has won the National Book Award three times (and this book was one of the wins), the Pulitzer Prize, and the Nobel Prize in Literature. In addition to award-winning, I read descriptions of both the book and the author as classics of American literature.

Well, I went back and forth a few times in my thoughts on this book. The main character Augie March has a lot to dislike. 😆 March was given many opportunities where others were left behind, but March mostly squandered them, and while relatively well-intentioned ends up hurting himself and others along the way. But I think we all have known an Augie March or ones with similar characteristics, and while it was not a flattering portrayal it was admittedly realistic, even when March was being frustrating. I'm glad I read it, and am willing to try another by Bellow. I'll give it 3.5 stars
