Raphael Sender | 31 comments the first book I would recommend for the whole discipline of science is the following eye opening read.
the title speaks for itself.

The Pleasure of Finding Things Out: The Best Short Works of Richard P. Feynman

rivka They are not general science, but he has ones for so many branches of the sciences it seemed best to put these here: Larry Gonick's Cartoon Guide series.

I have also heard good things about the non-science ones, but I can only personally vouch for (and heartily endorse) the ones for genetics, physics, and chemistry. The one for statistics is on my to-read shelf, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
