I thought this Book Riot Sneak Peek suggestion sounded like one I would like: Burn Baby Burn by Meg MedinaI did not realize How the García Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez is sometimes classified as YA - so that is a top pick for me, too.
I'm leaning towards reading Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas which has been on my tbr for ages. I highly recommend Elizabeth Acevedo. The Poet X, With the Fire on High, and Clap When You Land are all excellent. If you're looking for a good audiobook, she narrates all three herself beautifully.
