Jasmine Antwoine (jasmine_p_ant) | 2 comments Since I haven't seen anywhere on revvue a place where I could add a suggestion, I'm adding it here in the hope that some moderators or owners see it and improve the platform.
Please, please improve the UI, especially in the "Read" section. Now when I click a book to see if this could be my next read, the details are crammed into the footer section and I can't see the details clearly, while a whole right space on the website is underutilized. This is not only an aesthetic choice, since the first time I scrolled the books I actually selected a read without intention - I was trying only to look closely at the cover and blurb in order to make a decision, I didn't intend to select that for a review. I haven't even realized that I did until later when a warning came on my e-mail that i only have less than 24 hours to submit my review.
Also, please make the link to Amazon clickable before you select a book - some of us need more details before actually selecting a book.

I am 99% sure the person who beta-read my novel didn't actually read my book, or at least not past the first chapter. I'm not saying it was AI-generated, but a few things stood out to me. The most notable was this line: Christopher says he is not from this century, but we never get any sense of what that means or why it matters. That could be a brilliant hook, but right now it feels like a dangling gimmick.

Now, had the book actually been read, he would know that in later chapters, I go into precise detail about his past and what happened with him. I didn't want to dump everything in the first chapter.

Another noticeable problem was his "repeated use of 'hell' throughout the novel." The first chapter used it twice (granted, a few paragraphs apart), and it was used a total of THREE times throughout the book.

So, I guess my question is: has anyone else had this happen? And beyond blocking the beta reviewer, is there anything that can be done?

Hi Reina, thank you for your feedback!
Yes, we’ve received similar feedback from another user who also suspected that their beta reader didn’t read past the first half of the book. The author even suggested a neat solution: preparing a questionnaire of 5–10 questions. If a reader doesn’t answer most of the questions, it would indicate they didn’t read the book, so such reviews wouldn’t count and would be canceled. We’ve asked our developers to work on implementing this feature.

If you have any other suggestions for ensuring beta readers do their job properly, please feel free to share them here too!

Hi Maggie. What if the beta reviewer is required to give feedback for each chapter? I will admit, I did a beta review a week or so ago. I gave detailed feedback, but told the author I stopped taking notes at chapter 12. The rest of the chapters all had the same issue. So I told him to scan for that problem and fix it in each chapter.

I might have missed this, but is there a way to keep a centralized list of books on Revvue from this group? I've used that platform for a few months & find it tough to search for books except by genre.

If anybody knows of a better search capability on Revvue, kindly spread the word. I think it would make our review flow run smoother.

Honestly, it took me a little while to get used to the idea of a 400-kilogram gorilla who just happens to be a mechanical genius. But once you settle into the atmosphere of the Fist of Earth station, the story pulls you in through its sincerity. This isn’t just science fiction about ships and technology, it’s a story about trying to rebuild something after nearly everything has been lost.
The relationship between Robin, a cadet still searching for his sense of direction, and Mac, his gruff mentor, is the true heart of the book. It’s fascinating to watch Robin learn not only how to repair engines, but also how to navigate military hierarchies in a world where gorillas have been granted intelligence by extraterrestrials. Their hangar is dirty, loud, and chaotic, which makes the setting feel real and lived-in, not like a sterile sci-fi fantasy.
I especially enjoyed the tension that arises when a bureaucrat arrives from Earth to “reorganize” the station. It’s a universally familiar frustration: someone who only sees numbers trying to lecture the people doing the hard, hands-on work. Small details, like Robin’s awkward romantic life or Mac’s secret relationship with the admiral, give the characters depth and make them feel like real people with real problems.
The story leaves you with a warm sense of respect and the idea that family can sometimes be found in the most unexpected places. It has a lot of heart, and it somehow makes you empathize deeply with a massive gorilla in ways you wouldn’t have thought possible.
What I appreciated most was how thoughtfully this society is portrayed. It’s far more complex than it appears at first glance. This isn’t a simple dynamic of masters and helpers, but a forced integration shaped by dramatic circumstances.
It all begins with the “Benefactors,” the aliens who decided that humanity, nearly wiped out after the invasion, needed capable partners to rebuild civilization. The gorillas aren’t treated like smarter pets; they are full citizens, with legal rights, documentation, and clear responsibilities.
The most compelling aspect is that respect doesn’t come from laws or regulations, but from competence. Robin doesn’t respect Mac because the rules tell him to — he respects him because Mac is the best at what he does. It’s a merit-based hierarchy in which a human apprentice learns to grow into adulthood under the guidance of a primate who understands technology better than anyone else.

My story is about a Mechanic. "Grease Monkey" Something has gone terribly wrong here, either they posted a wrong review, or...? Help please.

Hi Anahit,

Amazon only allows reviews if a user has spent at least $50 in the last 12 months. This is most likely why your review wasn’t accepted.

Hanna | 1 comments Considering the above requirement ($50 per year spent), will my book be able to be reviewed, even though I cannot earn "coins" by reviewing other books? On a related note, the form to sign up on Revvue requires me to select an "Amazon marketplace" where I review books. Shall I merely select the US (my country) as a default?

Hi Hanna,
It’s not necessary to review books in the library — you can simply switch to the Bookworm Pro plan.
Yes, if you read and review on the US marketplace, then you should select US.

Hi, CI, you can simply send your PDF file to us. You should have received an email from us upon registration—just reply to it with the file attached and the title of the book.

I had to set up a brand new account on Amazon (because I now live Thailand) so my uk one could not be used for KDU. However in Thailand Amazon is not used and I read above you can’t post any reviews on Amazon without spending $50? Thailand doesn’t use Amazon and I can’t buy things here due to the import taxes charged. Is there a way around this having to spend $50? As I would really like to sign up, but I don’t want to not be able to leave a genuine review for the Authors I read? Any advice?

Hi Peter,
If it’s not possible to review on Amazon in your country, then it may be difficult to resolve. I know there are virtual assistants who can help with this issue, though I don’t know where to find them or how it works. Another solution is to switch to the Bookworm Pro plan.

Hi Amanda,
There used to be a “Close Account” button, but since most users who left later returned - and because no sensitive data is stored on the platform (only Amazon book links) - the button was removed.

That said, you can contact support via email, mention your username or email address, and your account will be closed.

I didn’t know there was a discrimination for if the system thinks a review is neutral/postive/negative and it considering a rating as simply negative. Its messing up my own stuff.

Most probably you left a positive review but gave a negative rating, which the system believed was a mistake. This is correct behavior - we’ve been struggling to add this feature, since sometimes users praise the book and give 2–3 stars for some strange reason. It was absolutely embarrassing. Thankfully, the system now flags such discrepancies

I only like 3 things about the book, it wasn’t particularly negative and it wasn’t particularly positive either. I slate 3 stars as neutral, not super liked enough for 4, and I didn’t love it so it wasn’t five, thats about it.

But i bumped it to 4, the customer service rep helped so everything is ok now
