Judith Rich | 138 comments My husband reminded me that the poet Philip Larkin was a librarian, so he is also an option. Although he wasn't a very nice man.

Elizabeth (elizabethlk) | 401 comments I'm also among those considering That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America by Amanda Jones. I'm also thinking about finally reading by Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches Audre Lorde.

Any of the books edited by Kelly Jensen would work as well. My personal favourite is Body Talk: 37 Voices Explore Our Radical Anatomy.

Alex | 15 comments I just read Is This a Cry for Help? by Emily Austin. It comes out Tuesday and it was great! Austin is not currently a librarian but has a degree in library science and used to work for the Ottawa Public Library system.

Jen M. | 3 comments I’m making this harder for myself by requiring that the book also be *about* a library as well. I think I’m going to read The Paris Library.

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) | 2 comments Olivia Dade is a librarian!

Mandie (mystickah) | 231 comments There's some great options. Obviously, there's That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America by my fellow librarian and LSU alum. There's also Smothermoss to consider.

Although, this may be the year that I finally read Dee Brown's Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West.

Elspeth (elspethm) | 62 comments There are *so* many people who have worked in a library this is hardly a "read harder" prompt.... that being said if People Magazine tells me Tessa Dare is a librarian, I'm going to count it.

I'll read The Bride Bet

message 19: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (kimirons) | 33 comments Tirzah Price is a former librarian. Is ‘former’ ok for this prompt do we think?

I think so

Judy Monchuk | 5 comments A few years ago I stumbled on Dear Fahrenheit 451: Love and Heartbreak in the Stacks by Annie Spence and fell in love with it.
When I was in elementary school, the school librarian would often push a book across the counter when I came to check out something. "I think you'd like this," she would say.
Thanks to her, I was introduced to The Outsiders and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. She also pointed me to non-fiction that dealt with social justice issues and probably helped define my career choices.
I wish I knew her name. But I'm sure she would have gotten along fine with Annie Spence, whose collection of love letters and breakup notes to the books in her life (and work) was exactly the recovery read I have needed often in the last few years.
It's a gem. So funny, so relatable and at some points, so helpful as guideposts for my ongoing reading lists.
I'd love to know Annie as a colleague, a book club pal, a sharer of wine or a library resource.
I dip into Dear Fahrenheit 451 regularly and it makes me smile. I need more books like this.

Erin (tangential1) | 57 comments I found a People Magazine article from last year about authors with librarian credit in their bios: https://people.com/authors-who-were-l...

I was interested to see Audre Lorde; I've got Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches on my TBR, so I might read that for this challenge.
