Sarah | 1541 comments Hi everyone,

Jaclyn wrote in her announcement post here that "it is now acceptable to update an existing Goodreads cover image for Kindle and Audio Audio editions to match the cover in use in the Amazon.com store for that specific ISBN or ASIN."

And the Librarian Manual was updated with the same information.

Yesterday I wanted to double check this just in case I had misunderstood something so I contacted support asking if I can delete old covers and replace them with the current covers in use on Amazon for Kindle and Audible Audios without losing my Librarian status, I got this answer:

"I can confirm that we can delete an old Kindle cover and Audible Audio cover and replace it with the new updated one from Amazon.
However, this can only be done by Goodreads staff. "

I asked them to ask Jaclyn to update her annoucement and the Librarian Manual so it clearly says Librarians are not allowed to do this. They have confirmed they will "pass this information along".

I'm so confused by their answer saying only they are allowed to?
Did I really misunderstand Jaclyns announcement and the update to the manual that much? I'll feel very stupid if I did and will probably delete this topic. Or are support the ones confused here? What are your thoughts on this?

Martin | 37963 comments I have updated many of these, I will continue to follow the instructions that allows us to do this. If they want to restrict it to staff only they can make another announcement or change the editing tool.

Tawnya | 4253 comments Keep in mind that in November many new staff members were hired. Now that the e-mails are answered by the generic "The Goodreads Team" it is harder to tell new ones from the old. With edits, you can usually see in the log who did what. The majority of support knows what they are doing. But there is never 100% perfect people at any company. An answer like that seems as to have been written by AI.

Hey old-timers. How much of a mess did you all have to deal with once the original site was sold? I would guess there was a huge learning curve. I read some of the old messages (there are just too many) and it seems there weren't very many happy people.

Scott | 11869 comments I'd be happy to leave it to support. I won't do these, myself.

Librarians can still make these changes - I'll follow-up with the team on this response. Sorry for the confusion!

Librarians can't change cover images set by employees, which could be where the mix-up came in.
