2017 Reading Challenge discussion

I see that I'm not the first one to turn to Henry James for this category, since Melissa commented on The Turn of the Screw a few months ago. This one doesn't leave you wondering "what happened?", but, rather, saying "no! Really?".

Christopher crosses the Atlantic to explore, not the New World, but the old one. Though the French Revolution has been over for 70+ years, he finds himself among the sort of aristocrats who sent the tumbrels rolling in the previous century.

This is one of Henry's first books. I read that he rewrote it many years later and gave it a different ending. I think I rather like this one.
