Ashley (ashleym99) | 1479 comments 1. Les Misérables
4/5

This was a well-written novel that had many things going on and characters that followed through the book.

The story follows Jean Valjean, a peasant who was unjustly imprisoned, baffled by destiny, and hounded by his nemesis, the police detective, Javert. As Jean Valjean struggled to redeem his past, you see Paris with poverty, ignorance, and suffering. During this time, rebellion sweeps over the land like wildfire, igniting a vast struggle for the democratic ideal in France.

The story follows the characters throughout the entire story, which took place over many years.

I recommend reading this book.

4/5

This was a really good book. The story was good and I just wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen.

Nicolette Farrell left Cooley Ridge ten years ago. Ten years ago she broke up with Tyler and her best friend, Corinne, disappeared. She returns to care for her sick father and another girl goes missing. As she tried to figure out what happened to the missing girl, she might find out what happened to Corinne. Is she in danger and does she know the people around this town?

This was a well-written book that was easy to follow and worked backwards from when the girl went missing. This worked well for this book.

I recommend reading this book.

3/5

This book was good, but I thought it could be better in some ways. It was lacking drawing me in.

Lyris inherited Hammersleigh House from her great-uncle Patrick. She finds a mummified child in the tower room of the mansion. Lyris tries to uncover the mystery with the help of a family psychic and Leander, a spirit guide. During this time, she is trying to manage a relationship with the Chief of Police, fend off her ex-husband, and hold the family reunion. With everything going on, will she find out what happened at that fateful reunion years ago?

The writing was good throughout the book, it just didn't grab my attention and pull me in. This could have been better if it did that.

This a book you could read or skip.
