Ashley (bibliophrenia) | 112 comments First scary book that popped into my head was It by Stephen King. Then I downloaded the audiobook and went WOW, 45 hours?! and changed that book to my Week 1 challenge.

Second scary book that popped into my head was Jurassic Park. I had started reading the book a couple years ago and it legitimately scared me. Then, I remembered that I am (very excitedly) saving this book for Week 30.

This long winded explanation is how I ended up reading the Lost World. Also, I was second guessing myself which book in the series I had actually begun reading..

Well. Turns out I was thinking of Jurassic Park... (I know, I know, it doesn't really matter, but since I'm rambling anyways...)

I read the reviews prior to starting the book so I was aware of its' downfalls, mainly being that you cannot read this book without wanting to punch Malcolm in the face for his long-winded over-explanations. I knew the book wouldn't follow the movie, but, to be honest, my least favorite parts (besides not being able to smack Malcolm) were the ones that were played out in the movie.

Overall, I think I rated this a 1. It's not that I'm surprised about how the book read - I just didn't enjoy the book.

PS. The only scary part was knowing that Malcolm wasn't ever going to stop talking! (I kid. It wasn't THAT bad.)

PSS. Maybe the long-winded explanation is karma for how long-winded this post is! Dang it!

Brittany (booksandbottles) (gamerkiti) Ashley, I have to disagree with your low rating! The Lost World was not nearly as great as the first book, but I think Malcom was probably my favorite character....although it could be to the fact that I find him sarcastically witty (I'm the same way myself so I can relate). I will agree that he has some long-winded portions that tend to drag in this book, but ultimately I enjoyed it :) I think you'll enjoy the first book more!

Ashley (bibliophrenia) | 112 comments Thanks, I hope so. :) Happy you had good experiences with it!
