2015 Reading Challenge [Closed] discussion

I recently read Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Since this is a genre that I generally only dip my toe into once in awhile I decided to go with another classic. It is on most lists as a must read horror so this is the perfect time to jump in.

I liked Frankestein but couldn't finish Dracula (I think I read something like 100 pages, it was too slow paced for me).
I'd a serious problem with the hero, because it was obvious that Dracula was a vampire and he didn't see it :p

I started Dracula a few years ago, got to the first major vampire hunt, and then lost interest. I read it again for this challenge.

I wouldn't say it scared me, but it definitely had some intense parts towards the end of the book. the diary format is definitely interesting.

I just finished reading Dracula. The story dragged in the second half of the book. Dr. Van Heisling was very long winded. I started to skim his speeches, and in the end skipped large swathes of the dialogue.
I was surprised by the Van Heisling character because their is a movie based on him, albeit very loosely based.
Considering the book was written at a time when there was very little entertainment and a slower pace, it was a good story.
I did enjoy Frankenstein much more than this one though.

I was so bored by this... But Frankenstein was an absolute delight!
