Rangers Apprentice Bundle: Books 1-8 by John Flanagan perhaps?Or Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer?
Our son loved both of those at the same age.
David Warner's The Big Switch: Kaboom Kid #1, Playing Up: Kaboom Kid #2, Keep it Down!: Kaboom Kid #3 and Hit For Six: Kaboom Kid #4
I gave my grandson #1 & #2 for Christmas and he really enjoyed them. He's 9...then recently my other 9yo grandson #1 and he devoured it.

Skulduggery Pleasant (maybe for older)Echidna Mania
Troubletwisters in fact ANYTHING by garth nix and I am led to believe sean williams is also good
Is he too old for Selby Speaks series?
The Key to Rondo
anything by Morris Gleitzman
and this series: Into the Wild
and Specky Magee
My boys also liked stuff supposedly written for girls if it had a lot of action Sandry's Book is a great example!
also not fiction but much loved by kids: Horrible Histories
My son (now 12) is remembering Holes Enid Blyton, Quentaris in Flames, as well as many of the ones I or others mentioned. He was also at 10 still reading The Hidden Stairs and the Magic Carpet although he realises the series is easy for that age-group
There are the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine - he did so many of them so just look at his name to browse

Paul Jennings was one my kids loved, and now grandkids:)

My grandson who is 9 is reading the first couple of the Harry Potter series at the moment...(screened by his dad;)) He's just finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
RitaSkeeter wrote: "There's always Percy Jackson as well: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan"I love the Percy Jackson books - still have a few more to read to finish the series.
There are also other books in The 13-Storey Treehouse series, the kids at my school love them. Then there is
, it's very funny!
The Tashi series by Anna Fienberg was a big hit with my girl at that age. I read a few and really enjoyed them too. It's an adventure series, full of magic, ghost, dragon and genies.
My boy is 10 and loves ALL the The 13-Story Treehouse books. The Lightning Thief series
and as Brenda suggested, he's a cricket nut so enjoys the The Kaboom Kid #1: The Big Switch series as well. Good luck!
Sally906 wrote: "There are the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine - he did so many of them so just look at his name to browse"Sally my son, who is now 28, wasn't much of a reader, but he loved the Goosebumps books.
I've just remembered another trilogy my nephews all loved when they were 10/11 (mind you my sister was horrified)I bought the first one for my oldest nephey when he was 11 but by the 3rd one had come out his 2 younger brothers were hanging out for it as well :)It is the Butt trilogy by Andy Griffiths - an Aussie author
They are (in order)
The Day My Butt Went Psycho
Zombie Butts From Uranus
The Final Conflict
My younger son (the reader) loved the Tashi series right up to the end of primary school even though he'd been reading them since he was 7 or 8 -they're just good stories. He also loved the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, The Ranger's Apprentice Collection Books 1-3 Box Set series and Lemony Snicket's series of Unfortunate Events books. Also R.L. Stine's ghost and scary stories, Emily Rodda's Rowan and Deltora series, The Adventures of Captain Underpants, Andy Griffiths and of course the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets but he didn't read the later Harry Potter books till Y6&7. They're a bit too dark for 10y olds. I think most of these have already been mentioned so I'm just confirming their popularity :)The school library should have most of these.
