Here is a few helpful tips on finding witches and keeping them at bay. What is believed by most to be Voodoo and hoodoo is actually forms that Mortals can practice their own Witchcraft.

Witch, Familiar, & Sleepwalker Weaknesses
◘Mirrors - A house full of mirrors will certainly steer Witches away. If a Witch were to look in the mirror without the true intent to do so one will see a shadow of images around them, spirits who follow them drawn by their magic and it has been known to cause many Mortals to have strokes. A Witch cannot look in the mirror with others in the room because if the spirits don't appear a hideous form will appearing as a burnt or mangled corpse of the Witch as Witches are damned for eternity from birth. Familiars & Sleepwalkers look into mirrors to find their animal form instead of themselves.

◘Brick Dust - If one fears anyone who intends to cause harm upon them can lay Brick Dust in a single line along their doorways and windows. This will prevent Wraiths or even Witches for that matter from entering.

◘St. John's Wort - This flower in any form or dosage will make a Witch seem intoxicated beyond all measure and possibly drugged. It is a truth herb. A Witch under the influence of St. John's Wort can be asked anything and cannot help but to speak the truth during their stupor. The plant remains in their system for up to 48 hours slowly wearing off. Unfortunately, the only real cure to this herb is waiting it out and duct tape tends to help too, or a gag. A Witch affected will be compelled to speak the truth to any question asked plus some and thoughts in their mind are let out verbally. There are no secrets. Heavy doses cause memory loss of the events that led to a Witch speaking the truth. Smaller doses just make them speak the truth.

◘Ash Wood - Ash wood is very dangerous for Witches. It can be used for good and bad. It creates a high libido and intense sexual urges in Witches. This can be used to lure Witches to their deaths if put into the air or consumed. They are naturally attracted to ash dust if inhaled. Should ash wood dust be used for more lethal methods the effects will not only create attraction and arousal it can create an almost ravenous state of mind hungry with lust and desire. Once heavy doses have been given to a Witch by a Hunter the Witch will naturally look to mate with another Witch. It is this action after heavy doses of ash wood dust that Hunters call a "Witch Hunt". There is only one true cure for ash and that is to satisfy or wait it out for up to 48 hrs. Once the heavy dosage of the substance has entered the system the Witch can tend to become a bit sexually animalistic with a growing lust hunger. Small doses can be used like viagra for Witches or even extenze.

◘Basil - This herbs leaves, if fresh only or frozen, will throw off a Witches senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, Taste, etc... It will become nearly impossible for them to do much of anything as it dulls the senses and can hold a lasting effect for as long as the dosage is constant. A single dosage no matter the measurement can last up to four hours. To cure the blindness rub a mixture of hazel and chamomile ground into a fine dust on the eyes. Rub it on the tongue for taste and in the ears and nostrils for smell and hearing. The most effective way to bring back touch is very aggressive sex. It pumps the adrenaline and gets the blood flowing. It can be cured, but it isn't easy. Blood has to be worked through the body it takes longer to take effect if bathed in the mixture, but it does work.

◘Iron - If a Witch is caged in iron or even chained by iron they will find their powers completely diminished until set free. Witches can be killed by any mortal means, but always have a chance to come back unless exposed to iron even after death no Witch can bring them back from beyond if they have an iron bullet lodged in their gut or a stake through their arm or chest. The element makes Witches completely mortal. Concentrated doses of iron such as a necklace and charm will burn a witch at touch. It will not burn through them, but will certainly create scars if left for long periods of time. It burns the flesh of Witches.

Familiar & Sleepwalker Weaknesses
◘Hazel - Although hazel was purported to have been used by Witches - Witch hazel, it was also used to protect against Familiars and Sleepwalkers who were at one point confused with regular non-cursed Witches. Hazelnuts and hazel wood were believed to offer protection against bewitchment, demons, Familiars, and witchcraft. Horses were protected by wearing hazel breastbands on their harnesses. In Scotland, double hazelnuts were hurled at witches, and cattle were singed or burned and marked with hazel rods at Midsummer and Beltane fires to keep Familiars away.
A Familiar under the influence of Hazel will be forced into their human form if in animal form. A Sleepwalker if kept indoors and out of moonlight or night air will also be forced into human form. Other effects it drains them entirely. A Familiar or Sleepwalker will be weakened and virtually mortal in every way.

◘Mistletoe - The Bane of Familiars and Sleepwalkers. Werewolves are poisoned by monkshood/aconite/wolfsbane and Familiars and Sleepwalkers are poisoned by Mistletoe. Mistletoe affects Familiars and Sleepwalkers in a way that makes them immobile if consumed or inhaled through a vapour or smoke. It forces a change upon them to their animal form and paralyses them. At this point they are more vulnerable than ever. The mere scent of mistletoe stewing will create flu like symptoms for the Familiar making them extremely ill.
Mistletoe is an evergreen parasitic plant which grows on deciduous trees in Europe and North America. It bears white berries, and its seeds are spread by bird droppings.

Along with being used in aphrodisiacs, medicinal potions, teas, and powders, mistletoe was hung in stable, homes, and barns as an amulet against bad luck, fire, and witchcraft. A sprig of mistletoe hung over a doorway prevented witches from entering.
