Instead of using owls, Beauxbatons prides itself on using much more graceful swans. Swan nests line the lake, and every Sunday the birds deliver letters. Larger packages are delivered by Abraxan horses, which reside in the stables.

The swans are owned by the school and the students.

Chloe walked to the swan lake, Will at her side.

Will looked at the numerous swans on the lake, and shot a glance over at Chloe. "Do you have your own swan?" He went back to looking at the lake, his ears pink.

A small smile tugged at her lips. "Yes. Her name is Snowdrop."

"Pretty name," Will said. "Is she around? Maybe we could pamper her."

"Thank you, and I think she has the 5th nest on the lake.."

"Great," Will said, walking towards the nest.

Chloe smiled a bit, following him to her swan.

"She's beautiful," Will said, as the reached her. He considered adding like you, but that'd be cliche, and he had just met Chloe a few hours ago.

((Awe))

She stroked a few of Snowdrop's feathers. "I guess I have to say thank you for her."

"I guess you do," Will said, watching her stroke Snowdrop, a slight blush rising to his face for some reason.

Chloe stopped petting her swan and searched underneath her for mail, in case she had any. Finding none, she looked to Will and smiled. "No mail today...do you have a swan?"

"Nah," Will said. "I don't really need to send mail. And I never receive any. Seems like a waste to get a swan, you know?"

Her eyes flicked up to meet his. "You don't get mail?"

"Nah," Will said, shaking his head. "Gran doesn't trust the swans. Or magic, for that matter."

"How did you get here if she doesn't trust magic? I mean," Chloe paused, explaining herself. "if she doesn't trust magic, she doesn't trust the school, right?"

"I told her that I'm attending an all boys school that has absolutely nothing to do with magic," Will confided, as if it were a big secret; though it wasn't; really. "I don't really think she believed it though. Probably thinks I'm off performing satanic rituals somewhere."

Chloe laughed. "That is really funny! Satanic rituals- are you sure?" She shifted on the grass next to Snowdrop.

"Gran's a bit paranoid," Will said, rubbing the back of his neck. He didn't really find it funny at all, but he supposed if you weren't experiencing the whole 'grandmother thinks you're selling your soul to demons' thing it didn't seem so serious. A lot of people choose to laugh at those kind of things, rather than think about what it'd be like to have to deal with them. Will pet Snowdrop absentmindingly, thinking that, if he told Celia that, she'd smack him on the back of his head and tell him to stop being so poetic. He looked over at Chloe and wondered how she'd react to him being 'poetic'.

She met his gaze. "Do you....I mean, what's your opinion on that?"

"It makes having to live with her over the summer awfully hard," Will said, almost telling her exactly what he'd been thinking. He stopped though, because really, how many people enjoyed listening to philosophical stuff like that? "But it could be worse."

Chloe zoned out a bit, thinking about what it must be like for Will. His grandmother thinks he's mad, she probably hates him, and she sent him away to a boarding school (well, she thought that), even if it was actually a magical wizarding school.

Will looked up at her. "What about you? Do your parents-or whoever is your guardian-know about all this? Magic and whatnot? If its not too personal, of course."

((Sorry. Sometimes, I click on a thread to reply to it, and then one of my parents like kick me off the computer. I have so many RPs going on that I need a notification in the 'unread' folder. I watch everybody's RPs in almost all my groups, so yea))

"What? Oh." Chloe hesitated, then stated plainly, "They know, it's just we're not very close. They're always working somewhere...all they seem to do now is work. That's their life, this is mine." Thinking about it, now, she realized she really had nobody else to support her. No siblings, and her parents had probably forgotten they even had a daughter. They stopped sending cards long ago.

"That's too bad," Will said. "I bet that can be hard, huh?" Feeling a bit hot and stuffy, he pushed up his sleeves, momentarily forgetting about the scar that led from the inside of his elbow to an inch from his wrist.

She smiled. "Sometimes. But Beauxbatons is very friendly." Her eyes shifted to his arms, which were now visible, and she noticed a long scar on his arm. Chloe's eyes widened. "How did you get that?" She didn't realize that the question could be considered as prying; she was worried.

Will followed her gaze and hastily pulled his sleeves down. "It's just a scar," he promised. He didn't particularly like discussing the car wreck, which was why he usually wore long sleeves. Everyone always asked that question, and once Will had answered, all of a sudden he was being given looks of pity.

Chloe flushed deep red as she realized her question was too personal. "I'm sorry- I didn't mean- God, I'm such an idiot- I just..." Finally she put her head in her hands, staring down at the ground (which was quite near her face since she was sitting down).

"It's fine," Will assured her, though he still sounded stiffer than usual. "I don't like talking about is all."

Despite the fact that Will had reassured her it was okay, Chloe felt absolutely horrible for bringing it up. She was mentally scolding herself harshly. Chloe!!! How could you? That question was way too personal for you to ask; what on Earth were you thinking?! He's probably going to hate you now. You've just made a friend, and now you've ruined it.

"Really," Will said, sensing that she didn't believe him. "It's fine. You're fine. And," he added, "you're not an idiot."

"Yes I am." She groaned. "I really am. I shouldn't have asked you. I'm so insensitive!" Chloe directed her words to the ground.

"Everyone always asks," Will tells her. "It's not like you're the first one ever. At least you dropped it afterwards. Celia thought I'd...it was a car wreck," Will told her, deciding it was better to tell her than have her think up other scenarios.

Chloe's eyes shot up to meet Will's as soon as she heard. "It was a car wreck." She was silent for a minute, mulling things over. Then her eyes slowly lowered down to the ground again. "I'm sorry. For...prying, and then practically forcing you to tell me, and, even though it won't make anything better, for the car crash." Chloe drew her knees up to her head and rested her chin on top of them, wrapping her arms around her legs.

Will blinked a few times, surprised at her reaction. It was almost as if she'd shrunk in on herself. "It's okay, Chloe, I'm used to people asking. It was a long time ago."

"Yeah but...." She tried to get Will to understand what she meant, but failed as she trailed off. She couldn't figure out how to tell him.

"But what?" Will asked her, scooting closer and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Odd, he thought suddenly, that he felt the need to comfort her, when he was the one who'd just explained about a car accident he'd been in.

Chloe, for a minute, didn't reply. She was contemplating if she should, and could, tell him about her past, and why she understood what he felt, at least a little. "I know how you feel." She leaned into Will somewhat.

Will frowned a bit at that, but decided not to pursue that train of thought. "So, Captain Chloe, what's your favorite color?"

She smiled a bit. "I don't know....like a really soft pink?"

"Sounds pretty," Again, Will had to restrain from saying, 'like you. "Mine's a really dark green."

Chloe grinned. "That's a nice color."

"Thanks," Will said. "I guess. Is thanks an appropriate response to that?"

Chuckling, she replied, "Yup."

"I'm sure if the color was a sentient being it'd say thanks," Will mused.

"Okay then let me rephrase: That's a nice choice."

"Thanks," Will said, winking at her.

Immediately, Chloe blushed. She wasn't used to guys winking at her, and didn't expect it when it happened.

Will grinned. He loved making people blush, and for some reason, causing Chloe to blush was even more fun.

As soon as Will grinned, Chloe's face turned even more pink, leaning more towards red. Especially since she liked Will...a lot...and they were sitting a few centimeters away from each other....If you scooted a little closer....
