Usually not. Occasionally, I will highlight a little - maybe a quote I like, or a description of something I connect with, but I do this rarely, and NEVER EVER in a book I do not own. I hate getting library books with pen marks and scribbles and stains in them...you've gotta respect your books; people! :)
I've written comments, drawn pictures, doodled, noted grocery items and otherwise despoiled those clean places. There was a time I didn't... no, wait... when I was a kid I got in trouble for drawing a crucified Jesus in a blank page of a bible. Seemed reasonable, to me.
Textbooks yes. I'll highlight or mark important things and make note of anything in the margins that might help me for exams.Fiction books no. Although most of my books are on kindle now and I do use the bookmark and highlight functions.
I do keep notes about books separately on phone/notebooks but never on books. And if I've borrowed a book (like via Lenro) then I can't even imagine writing on it. For me that book is a "trust" on me by someone:)
WOW. Someone does. LOL. NEVER. I've taught my kids not to either. LOL.Whenever we read a book together, as a family, I will write the date we started and ended. Maybe occasionally a message about where/when/what or if we liked it.
Since we homeschool I will write the grade level in a book.
But I do write notes and highlight in ebooks. Sometimes several members of our family will read at the same time and we'll discuss that way.
No. I'll write notes in a notebook, but I dont like writing in the book. The highlight feature is one of the things I love about my kindle.
I only underline important lines/paragraphs. For a soft-copy I also highlight it. But this is ONLY for textbooks. Fictions, story books, novels... I don't ever use pen/pencil/ink for them..
NO!!!! Omg I could never bring myself to write in my books. I love them way too much to do that. When I was in high school and was required to take notes in the margins, underline, etc in my books that we were reading it felt so wrong.
No. If I need to take notes in class then I'll use a notebook and I have a special way of taking notes that works for me.
Absolutely not!!!! I consider that defacing a book. The only book I seriously considered writing in was Gone Girl but only because I hated it so much. I also considered through it out the window when I was done with it.
If it is non fiction and it is something that I want to remember than I highlight it but unless I have to right in the margin (like for school or something) than I won't
