I started this group as a way to connect with other book lovers in Bermuda. This thread is a place to introduce yourself and say what kinds of books you like to read.

I'm Phil. Originally from the UK, I've now been living in Bermuda for 12 years. Over the years my reading habits have gone through several phases.

Twenty years ago, a stint working in Hong Kong in the run-up to the handover to China ignited an interested in Chinese history and politics. This expanded into an interest in international affairs more generally.

I read next to no fiction, other than the contemporary and science fiction of Iain Banks, until a fiction-loving friend started expanding my horizons when I was working in London fifteen years ago.

After many years when my reading dropped off due to the demands of a young family, I'm now rediscovering my love of books. Once again I'm back to non-fiction, this time with a focus on philosophy and psychology. To help me remember what I read I also write about what I've learned from the books I've read on my website, www.phillipwells.com.

The non-fiction book that has influenced me most is probably Stephen Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". My favourite novel is Iain M. Banks' "Use of Weapons".
