Welcome back to UNO for another year… or if you are new Welcome!

We have returning players which is always great to see and some new players on board, welcome to our team.

I’m your Captain, going on 8 years playing UNO now, I have my trusty Co-Cap Lauren back for another year. Based in Australia, we are enjoying hot summer days… I love my Thriller/Mystery books. I can’t get enough of them, so looking forward to some recs from the team of your best reads last year.

Once the thread opens.... please introduce yourself and share some of your all-time fav books.

If you are new to the game. Read through the rules. Once we start playing it will all start to make sense and you will pick things up quickly 🙃

Most importantly we are here to have fun..... any questions at all just ask.

*Books must be more than 100 pages in length. If it is a Childrens book or a graphic novel, we need to verify it is more than 25,000 words on arbookfind.com.

*Your finished books need to be on your Uno shelf AND marked as "read" for them to count.

*Please add these to the Team Tracking Sheet. I will move them across to the master sheet, leave that to me. The "Tracking Sheet" you will use the most, best to save this on your browser for easy access.

* Please make notes of how your book may count. The more options we have the better! (Letters used in UNO are Z,O,T,H,F,I,V,E,S,N,K,P and of course if another team member has read the book before we can use as a reverse.

For coloured cards, the cover needs to be 50% or more of the colour. You can ask us in this thread for our opinion, or use this colour tool: https://labs.tineye.com/color/ to get an idea. If in doubt, ask me or our co-captain.

* This is a social challenge, not a competitive one. We'd love to get points, but the main aim of the game is to have fun, read lots and get to know each other :)

I'm a Romanian leaving in New Zealand for the past 9 years with my husband and 2 boys. I honestly read most genres so looking forward to some great recommendations from everyone. I can never choose my all time fav anything haha. So I will mention a few of my favourite books of 2025: The Dark Mirror, Demon Copperhead, The Bloodsworn Saga, My Friends, Wild Dark Shore and a few others but will stop here. Here's to a great UNO! :)

I am excited for Uno to start and getting to know my new teammates! This is my fifth year playing Uno and I have been a co-captain and a captain. I took last year off and am glad to be back as a participant.

I live in the midwest of the US, in Cincinnati, Ohio and we are expecting snow tomorrow. You are lucky to be warm in Australia.

Some of my favorite genres are literary fiction, romance, magical realism, mystery and thrillers. I lean toward books that have likable characters, happy endings and aren't scary. I am in 5 book clubs so I tend to read more widely than my natural tendencies.

My favorite book so far this year is Favorite books from last year were The Road to Tender Hearts, Chasing Hope, Broken Country, The Correspondent and Wild Dark Shore.

I look forward to hearing what you all are reading. I just finished and it was so good!

So glad to be back on your team again — it’s always nice seeing familiar names, and hello to all the new book friends joining us this year!

I’m Alyana, checking in from Queens, NY. I work in a library, I’m married, and we have one daughter who keeps us busy in the best way. I think this is my fifth time playing UNO, and it’s still my favorite team challenge. One thing I really love about this game is how it nudges me to read or listen outside my comfort zone.

My go‑to genres are psychothrillers and romantic comedies. Fantasy and sci‑fi aren’t usually my thing, but never say never — UNO has surprised me before.

My family and I love to travel, especially cruising. Speaking of that, I’ll be away during the second and third week of February, but I’m planning to squeeze in some reading before I leave. And don’t worry, I’ll still check in — ghosting is not my style, lol.

Anyway, this is getting long. Happy to be back and excited for another fun year with Team Azure!

The only books I plan to read so far that work for colors are for the Blue 3.

I have a yellow 1 option The shining by Stephen King, it’s the first in a series and there is a movie tie in yellow front cover (sorry I’m trying to do this in the browser of my phone and it’s still not allowing me to do pictures)

We are just a few days out from starting UNO. All of our colour cards have been assigned and we are ready to go.

Have you decided which book to start with? Do you have a TBR pile you pick from or are you a mood reader?

Love to hear everyones process. Im a bit of both, I have a general guide but then it really does come to what Im in the mood to read.

Im hoping to start with these

I'm more of a mood reader so I'll pick stuff up as it comes along :)

It's always such a tough decision to work out which book to start first for UNO! I'm thinking I might start or first, but knowing me it could be something completely different depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I have read both of Lauren's book possibilities and the The Tea Girl as well so we could start off with some possible reverses.

I usually like to start with a book I can finish the first day of UNO so I will probably start with one of the short books on my TBR, either or . I have an UNO TBR shelf that I can choose from and then I will see what strikes my fancy (and what has come in from the library.)

I'm more of a mood reader myself but I will probably start with one of my colour cards. After that it will also depend on library holds or new releases.
Loved Hamnet and Lord of the Rings. Curious to see Hamnet the film. Also want to read The river has roots, it's nice and short so perfect for UNO :)

I'm definitely a mood reader. I just kind of read whatever and then see where it can fit :)

I’m definitely the type of reader who sticks to planned books. I always try to make sure each pick from my TBR fits my challenges, and I’ll probably start with my two books for the colored cards.

Oh I loved Foster.... so looks like we will be killing it with the Reverse cards this year 🤣
