Do you think that wearing leggings under skirts is appropriate for church? Please comment.

Depends on the length of the skirt, really. If the leggings are just there to add an extra layer of warmth or whatever, then that's fine. If you're wearing leggings because the skirt would be way too short otherwise, probably not.

Yah that's what I was thinking, also I think that you are supposed to wear your best clothes to church you know, and for some reason that doesn't seem like your "best" to me....

Yeah, there's a poster at BYU it talks about how leggings don't make a skirt modest. But leggings are fine for church.

I wear leggings kind of for the same function as a slip...You know, so the skirt isn't see-through. But I think if the skirt would be too short without the leggings, it's not modest.

I also like what someone else said; if you're having a difficult time figuring out if it's modest, it's probably not. I still think leggings are fine, though, if they're used the right way.

I never wear leggings cause they don't look good on me. So I don't have to worry! :)

I'm not the type of girl who wears leggings... I'm just not comfortable with them.

I wear leggings but not with like short shorts or short skirts i just wear them if the dress is above the knee

I watched a play and all the boys were wearing kilts and spankes. O.o it was wired.

leggings are cute and okay in my opinion with not a mini skirt, just a dress (or skirt, but short skirts... idk) that is a little bit above the knee. too far up is not appropriate for church. my way of telling is you need tights (EWW!) or leggings if you can see your whole knee cap.

btw that was just my way of viewing leggings. don't sue me!!!

I don't think that leggings are modest at all. I also think that women and girls should always should, no matter what wear tights. even with a long skirt.

Really? I never wear tights. I don't think they make much difference, honestly- they're like leggings, skin-tight and nearly see-through. But I never wear short skirts.

Yeah, I was in ballet and I wore tights too. And I used to with some dresses. But I don't anymore. They bug me. :)

If my skirt is a bit too short (most of mine are long enough, but sometimes they shrink in the wash, you know?) I wear leggings just to be safe. I'd rather wear leggings and be modest than not and be inappopriate!

I feel weird because I didn't realize this earlier, but I need to wear a black skirt for a play I'm in. I just borrowed my sister's pencil skirt, and I found out when I wore it that it has a big slit in the back... haha. Luckily, it only shows if I walk really weirdly, so it still works.

I have no idea why I'm telling you this. I feel some obscure need to ramble right now.

I have a black pencil skirt that does that, too. But, just as hers is, you can't see it really unless I walk weird or I'm going up steps. Honestly, I'm fine with it because it's the only way I could ever walk in a pencil skirt. Otherwise I'd have to take baby steps and I'd get nowhere! xD

Actually, the prophets, apostles, and General YW leaders have asked us Young Women to wear tights or nylons and to always wear closed-toed-shoes to church.

Really? Huh, I don't remember that. But FTOSY says nothing about toes being immodest, so I wear open-toed heels. ;)

I read it one time in the Ensign, it was one of the talks for GYWB (General Young Womens Brodacast).

If the skirt is below your knees, yes. Any higher, no.

Most skirts look weird on me, but the short short short ones look really weird:)
