I actually try not to eat anything while writing. I'm super distractible and if my hands are reaching for a snack, that means they're not on the keyboard :P

While the gargoyles happened as a result of the war, the chimera are a product of Ninu's deliberate magical (and otherwise) manipulations. I'm not sure how much I should say so I don't spoil anything for those who haven't finished yet haha.

It was born of a combination of my fascination with time manipulation and mind-controlled super soldiers. When I couldn't decide which idea I wanted to write more, I mashed the two together!

Kai's devotion to her brother, to family both given and chosen, is something I strongly relate to and also a theme I tend to incorporate in most of my writing.

Yes! I've wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. My very first stories were modeled after RL Stine's Fear Street books with lots of ghosts, murder, and exploding heads.

Hi Ashley, I'd recommend starting with the first book in the series which is Gates of Thread and Stone :)

Hi Natalie! I write fantasy and science fiction (although only fantasy is published at the moment). I have a love of all things magical and wondrous :)

Hi Sandra, I've found that what works for me when the inspiration is running dry is to read a lot. Reading other incredible books refills my creative well and inspires me to work harder.

Hi Milena! I knew I wanted to be a writer very early on. I actually can't remember a time when I didn't want to write. I do, however, specifically remember an afterschool program when I was in elementary school that taught kids how create their own picture books. The obsession might have started there :)

I'm OBSESSED with Leigh Bardugo's books, right now particularly the Six of Crows duology. I'd also strongly recommend OTHERBOUND by Corinne Duyvis, UNDER A PAINTED SKY by Stacey Lee, and AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir. I could actually keep going but I'm cutting myself off before I rattle off two dozen titles lol.

in-betweener, I wasn't the popular cheerleader but I wasn't the unpopular dork -- However I had friends acrossed the spectrum and learned alot from all

Ashley is the winner of the Lori M. Lee prize pack! Congrats! Join me next month when my featured book is Illuminae and we'll be chatting with both authors!
