Once you’ve found your reading buddy (or buddies!) and chosen a book, head over to the Informal Buddy Read Corner sign-up thread to officially request a group discussion thread.

Quick Guide to Buddy Reads:
- Minimum: 2 readers (but more are always welcome!)
- Pacing & Discussion: Go at your own speed! Chat as much or as little as your group likes. Note: If you’re reading for a challenge, some require a minimum number of comments to earn points—so double-check those rules.
- Timeframes: Only apply if you’re reading for a specific challenge with a deadline.
- Just for Fun? Absolutely! Mark “N/A” for challenge when you sign up.
- Multiple Reads? Go for it! Join as many buddy reads as your TBR pile allows.
- Thread Activity: Inactive threads are archived after 1 month. Need yours kept open? Just let a mod know!

Questions? Don’t hesitate to ask! We’re here to help make your buddy read experience fun and easy.

Happy matching and happy reading! 🎉

Hi! ... So, this is way outside my normal reading, but very much aligned with my 2026 reading goals to push myself into newer, or less common for me, genres.

2 of us already have a thread for Gone With the Wind, but I thought I'd post this out there to see if anyone is interested in joining in on this one. We plan on reading (or listening in my case) to this one in January. I suspect this one might be good to do while discussing it?

Any adventurous takers?

If hadn't JUST read this one, I would. I am going to let people know that a new thread is open here, so that this gets more visibility!

I'll join. I'll just break it down to read throughout the month. I went ahead and borrowed it on audio.

woohoo!! Yeah, I have not borrowed this one yet since for once I think I might need more time [than normal] so want to make sure I give myself the 21 days in case I need it. But, seems easily available (in libby).

Maddalena, I'd also like to read this one! Do you have a time frame? I have committed to quite a few chunky books this month, so I think I'd need to push it out to Feb or Mar.

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 709 comments Hello I am Catherine and I enjoy escaping into books and always pushing to read books I wouldn't pick up typically. But also love a good fantasy and Lit-Fic.

I am looking for some Goodreads Choice Challenge if anyone is interested I was thinking this would be a good first read for January The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner and then
Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy but also open to anything else I have not read yet.

I have read both of those, but I saw your request about Middlegame (Alchemical Journeys, #1) by Seanan McGuire and I can join you for this one in January. We have another person interested in joining us too. I'll request a thread for the three of us.

Trisha | 1493 comments hello Everest!! I'm a big fan of reading horror (body horror works) so I'm open to buddy reading!

I've already read that one but I'd be up to buddy read another!
I tried to go through your TBR but I didn't see a lot of recent horror/body horror on there so I wasn't sure what else you'd be open to!

I can list some of the more recent horror picks (that I think work for body horror) to see if you want to read any or you can find some and let me know which you're hoping to read!

Audiophile Archives | 192 comments anyone want to BR a 500+ pg mystery? I can start this weekend...

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty Here One Moment.

If you were told you only had a certain amount of time left to live, would you do things differently? Would you try to dodge your destiny?

Liane Moriarty’s Here One Moment is a brilliantly constructed tale that looks at free will and destiny, grief and love, and the endless struggle to maintain certainty and control in an uncertain world. A modern-day Jane Austen who humorously skewers social mores while spinning a web of mystery, Moriarty asks profound questions in her newest I-can’t-wait-to-find-out-what-happens novel.

Hi all — I’ve removed the previous post because it was veering into mod/hosted event-style territory, which isn’t allowed in the “Find a Buddy” thread.

Please keep all posts here casual buddy read requests only. Thanks!

Hi Sarah — just a quick clarification here for you and anyone else browsing this thread 😊

The “Find a Buddy” thread is meant for simple, organic requests only (ex: looking for someone to read X book together). Posts that are structured like hosted events, include promotional-style descriptions, or direct members to external threads for organized reads aren’t a fit for this space.

Additionally, all formally hosted or structured buddy reads (with pacing, discussion prompts, etc.) are reserved for mod-run events only. Member-led reads should remain casual and contained within their own threads without being promoted across the group in this format.

Please adjust future posts accordingly. Continued attempts to run or promote structured buddy reads outside of these guidelines may result in loss of Buddy Read thread privileges and/or being banned from the group.

Thanks for understanding!
