GIFTS FROM THE SEA

In Gifts from the Sea, Anne Morrow Lindhberg introspects and shares what she gleans from her stay at the beach on Captiva Island on the Florida gulf coast. The author very skillfully imparts the need for people especially women to make time to center their lives amidst the onslaught of chores, relationships, mechanizations and the trending masculine culture. The weave in the story is the need for solitude and especially a woman’s need to replenish herself in solitude to be creative in her various responsibilities. With the help of the mundane and the simple at the beach, the book alludes briefly to the stages of a woman’s life especially in the maturing of relationships which in her own words, she must do on her own. The goal of the book which is the importance of turning to the inner self has been composed beautifully through the rhythm of self discovery and the lilt of the need for creativity in men and women everywhere.
