I felt the same way! But everyone I know loves all of his books. I started reading another one but it seemed too much like the others so I never finished.
I really liked Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars. Haven't read anything else of his yet. Paper Towns sounds interesting, but it's not a priority for me right now.I like his style of writing and his characters. I think they're deep and very well written. He almost reminds me of a YA version of Nicholas Sparks with all the sad things he tends to write about...
Not a big fan of his writing style and his characters, but that is based only after reading "The Fault In Our Stars". I'll give him another shot because of the upcoming Paper Towns movie, and maybe I'll be interested in reading more of his books.
I read paper towns first before I knew it was being made into a movie & I thought to myself "this would make a pretty good movie" it's funny & sincere & interesting. That was the first john green book I ever read so since I liked his style of storytelling I decided to read Looking For Alaska next. I did find the characters were very similar but I guess that's how he gets readers to identify with them. I also liked they one a lot, so I read The Fault In Our Stars after that & felt it was also a good read. I can see why some readers wouldn't like his style, but I really like the introspective aspect that his characters go through. I guess the parts I like best is that they're not "happy" endings but more realistic "learn to accept things to be content" endings
Paper Towns is my favourite John Green novel. I loved the message he portrayed in it. My least favourite of his books is probably An Abundance of Katherines. I don't know why but that book is just a no no for me
On another note, vlogbrothers is one of my favourite YouTube channels. John and Hank are so brilliant. I wish I was a Green child haha (Green child sounds kind of funny :P)
