I'm an editor rather than an author, but still I'm calling this my one self-promotion thread.
As the lead editor of Montag Press, I seek out books worth burning and help the authors sharpen their vision. I edit mostly science fiction stories and look for strong female characters, though I also work with historical fiction and fantasy.
Paul Bussard is a delightful author I've worked with twice. Both of his books have strong female scientists, and he strives to write quality hard science fiction:
Stinger StarsBeyond Hercules
If you are looking for something darker and have a strong stomach, The Red Light Princess involves the murder of a celebrity prostitute. James W. Bodden creates a future world in which most people modify or mutilate their bodies for various reasons, whether in keeping with fashion, function, or religion.
Also, while the protagonist is male, Oracle of Delphi has a few great female characters and it just so happens that the book is free on Kindle this week only, May 11-15. You can get your copy on Amazon now!
I hope you enjoy these, and I'll add more wonderful titles as they are released.
