I started this... Its very unique story yet feel so familiar. Normally, when an historic event is told we often see it from a very regal narrator. But here I was happy to see the world through Site's eyes. The world which I could not see or feel from Queen's perspective, I could see it from her royal guard's. I liked how she showed strength and intelligence yet a kind of innocence lingered around her. Queen of Janhsi is the only character I haven't gained much knowledge about so I am rather enjoying this story. I also am enjoying the no romance aspect of it and how sita tries to fit herself in Durga Dal. What about you ?
Okay so I finally made it to the end! This book I totally loved. I don't know why I don't opt for these books. Purvi thanks so much for the recommendation. :) This book was a total worth of reading in a hurry. I mean you won't like to stop reading this. It will keep you attracted towards it. History, I find in Interesting a lot, so I totally love this book. :)
Sita and Rani Lakshmibai are strong and independent women in an era when women didn't hold much power.
Filled with fascinating historical details about a subject that is not often portrayed, the novel looks at both the rights of women and the conflict between the British Empire and India in a fairly unbiased way.
I agree. It showed so much light on every aspect of history that now I am so eager to know more and more about Jhansi and what actually happened. Did some Kahini actually existed or what happened with Anuja. I want to know Who was the real Sita of Manu. Reading this from Sita's eyes I could understand the things that could never have come across if I had read it from Rani's POV.
The training, the plotting, The sweet untouchable romance. There was a purity in the affection which was shown between Sita and Arjun which we won't be able to find in today's novels. It has brought me more closer to Indian fiction and I will be embarking the journey of reading more and more books on it.
Yes exactly! The romance part! :D I read Romance novels of these days so it was totally unique to me! ^_^ :) :D

Told from the perspective of Sita, one of the guards in Lakshmi's all-female army and the queen’s most trusted warrior, The Last Queen of India traces the astonishing tale of a fearless ruler making her way in a world dominated by men. In the tradition of her bestselling novel Nefertiti, which Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander series, called “a heroic story with a very human heart,” Michelle Moran once again brings a time and place rarely explored in historical fiction to rich, vibrant life.
