Hey peeps. This is me, checking in & clicking the Notify thingy.

I'm ok with any level.

I kind of peaked at the other teams stuff and I see that it gets pretty difficult but we also have a bigger team so maybe we could do a higher level?

I'm fine with whatever. We can change our level before Feb I believe so we could start somewhere in the middle and then increase it if we want? Or if want to just go for it, I'm fine with that too 😂

So maybe hard could be a good starting point? vs ultimate which looks much harder?

I would be good with medium! Since it's 3 restrictions vs all restrictions and we don't know how many all would/could be. I think once we see the ss and tasks we could decide about ramping it up in February.

Looks like 6 tasks and 6 spell out letters so not too bad except we don't know what the further down tasks are.

I think one of us needs to find a title that starts with N, one of us needs to find an author first name that starts with O, then author last name that starts with V, and then for I,C,E, we can use any option (title, author first or last name)

I guess its listed multiple times in case we fill it out once and have time to try it again, but I'm just ignoring it for now since it says we don't have to do it lol

The other two are for the ultimate challenge. I was confused at first too but I'd been peaking at other teams threads so I had a little bit of an idea of what to expect.

I think I've got Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt for the V or The Nightmare Before Kissmas could work for N. idk what else but that for sure is checked out right now

Can we do series title? I have v for series title.

I can do E for author's last name.

Just the I C E are flexible the other 3 have to be N - Title, O - Author first name and V - Author Last Name (i think since we did medium that that's why we have the first three with restrictions and the last three without)

I could fill our first task now *read a book by an author you've never read before* or I'm comfortable taking a more difficult task down the line if someone else wants to fill that one!

my book would also work for that one but if you're finished, I say go ahead and complete it. We might be able to change things around later (maybe lol) if need be.

I think my current book will actually work for that. It's her first "novel." She released poetry books prior, but not any fiction books, so that should work, right?

Alright, let’s talk rules… because yes, there are rules. Your level determines your tasks: how many you do and which ones.

Core Task – everyone completes this. Your level doesn't matter here.

"Optional Tasks" – are they really optional? not really. These depend on your difficulty level:

• Easy: Core + Optionals 1 & 2 = 3 tasks
• Medium: Core + Optionals 1–3 = 4 tasks
• Hard: Core + Optionals 1–4 = 5 tasks
• Ultimate: Core + Optionals 1–5 = 6 tasks

💡 Important: No, you do not read one book that counts for all tasks at once. This isn't a Dr. Frankenstein experiment, and you are not creating a monstrous, stitched-together reading abomination. Don't try it… and definitely don't ask the mods about it.

Example – Easy Level (3 books):

• Book 1: MPG Horror
• Book 2: MPG Horror + Published in 2025
• Book 3: MPG Horror + Published in October

Not this:

• Book 1: MPG Horror
• Book 2: MPG Horror + Published in 2025
• Book 3: MPG Horror + Published in 2025 + Published in October

Then, there's the SPELL OUT component... each month has a 6-letter word. Here’s how many letters you complete each month:

• Easy: 6 letters (any option)
• Medium: 6 letters (with 3 restrictions)
• Hard: 6 letters (all restrictions)
• Ultimate: 18 letters (all restrictions ×3) — yes, that means spelling the word three times. You picked Ultimate… don't blame me.

Of course, you don't have to do any of the spell out, but you'll lose points, so… good luck.

I just hid the Ind tab, so there's no confusion. I'm putting the book I had there, into the spellout

The next task is a new to you author + the author is from a country you've never read from before

Do the tasks not add on to the previous one? like option 3 would be read a book by an author you've never read before that is a debut, you only picked it for the cover, AND the author is from a country you've never read before?

I thought that's how it was since the difficulty increases each time, but if it's not, then thats definitely easier lol

luckily it's not that! It's just the two things each time for this difficulty
