This month we’re reading The Names by Florence Knapp—a novel that explores identity, memory, and the quiet power carried by the names we’re given (and the ones we choose).

Before you start, what are you expecting from this story about how names shape lives and relationships over time? Are you anticipating something introspective, emotional, or quietly unsettling?

Share your pre-read thoughts, predictions, or questions below before the story begins.

Dawn (dawnella77) | 191 comments I am uncertain about starting the year about a book with domestic abuse. I am expecting something unsettling at first, which makes me hesitant about reading the book.

Julie Grindal (julesgrin) | 198 comments Read a few non-book club books first. Nothing says you have to read this book this month or ever. I have skipped book club selections that were potential triggers for me.
Hugs.

Hi Dawn - Agree with Julie. There may be books you don't want to read in the club, and that's ok. You read what's right for you, when it's right for you.

Julie Grindal (julesgrin) | 198 comments Finally arrived in my Libby Audiobook queue. It’s up next after I finish my current read.
Has anyone listened to the audiobook?

I am.

Tiffany (herbtiff) | 216 comments My libby wait was too long. I bought the book for the 2.99 price tag thru Amazon Kindle. I am curious how the Audible compares.
