I saw a documentary about it once. It was really sad actually. People feel as though they're dragging around an extra appendage and that it needs to come off in order for them to feel whole. I walked away from the movie with an entirely different view of body disorders...

LOL! Literally.Actually, as a believer in reincarnation, I felt like the person may have been short a limb in another life and felt, in this life, like the limb didn't belong. It's really fascinating.
You know, this is a fascinating book and a truly interesting body image disorder. I cannot relate at all to looking at one of my limbs and wishing it wasn't there. What I can understand, and so does everyone else, is being unhappy with their body. I think any piece of information about this disorder not only helps those afflicted but all of us to help accept ourselves for what we are, not wish we could be.
