A little behind where I wanted to be, but i'll be starting this one when I get home probably wed/thurs!
I can probably get to this one next week (like after the 18th). I'll make a point of doing that!
awesome! I can push it back a few days to read around the same time. as long as I get to it before the end of the month it's all good 😁

Oh yeah... I have a hard break with books between months. Books I committed for this month will be done THIS month. I'm in too many challenges not to have that hard line.
Of course, I say that... and yet I already know... I will run out of books this month. But that's future me's problem. LOL

Well, when you put it like that... my TBR has plenty to keep me busy. But mood can be the darndest thing when I don't have tasks/prompts driving me.

I started the audio on my way in this morning. I'm in the chapter labeled "Not a Crime" - looks like chapter 6.
So far this is pretty interesting.
And done! 😆I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! And I was surprised by how believeable some of the situations were. People assuming the completely wrong things at all times (as they always do!) and the waters getting muddied much more than they really needed to.
I know assisted suicide in all its forms is highly controversial and divisive, but I have to admit I can see the situation where it would seem appealing.I am naturally very resistant to pain relief, unfortunately. Morphine doesn't work on me, as I found out the hard way a couple of years ago, nor do most other forms of pain relief I've tried. I was in enough pain to contemplate impromptu surgey on myself, so can certainly see where that would go if surgery was no longer something that could help!
I understand many people have religious objections, but surely no deity worth mentioning would have an issue with someone terminally ill ending their suffering? To make them linger on in extreme pain for what could be months just seems cruel to me!
Also, I have to say... I loved the ending!Only real downside for me was the audio narration. While ok on the whole, I really didn't like most of the voices the narrator used. they seemed more like the over-the-top kind a lot of people use when reading to small children 😆
I'm not reading your posts lalalalala 😆I'm at 90% and have a crap ton of meetings this morning. Adulting is a pain in the ass.....
I'll finish it this afternoon.
Lol!I've kept it spoiler-free for now 😆
Meetings no fun, hope they go quickly. I'm going to have to get up and cook dinner, but have a nasty case of "don't wanna" 😂

I've definitely felt like this lately.
I made myself get up make some lentil soup on Sunday for which I'm grateful as it's been my lunch and dinner last two days.

I have to agree. It took so many turns I wasn't expecting which kept it entertaining.

If you are of sound mind it should be ok to choose this route. It is hard to watch patients through the dying process and it can take months. There are situations where this would be really quite humane.
Opinion (view spoiler)

I did love that ending - it was perfect!
Narration didn't really bother me.
I find it very interesting to hear about it from a health care perspective. I'm in the UK, but I can't see it being so very different overall, except that there are probably a lot less religious objections.I think for me the hardest part would be seeing someone I love in pain. My dad is in the hospital right now with gallstones, and it's been one problem after another. I went through it myself a couple of years ago, so I know exactly how bad he's feeling and I hate it! I'd rather go through it again myself than watch him suffer with it.
I can only imagine how much worse it would be with something terminal.
Started this one last night. Haven't really had a chance to listen much today. I'm 15% in, paused in ch "Not a Crime"
I like this one so far. Interesting setup!

Yes, it's tough.
Sorry to hear your Dad is dealing with gallstones. Definitely not fun. Hope he has some good meds and good caregiving going on.
Finished. I liked this one more than I expected. Once it meandered a bit early on I wasn't sure where it was going to go. All in all, pretty good. And to Melissa's point, the ending was indeed perfect for this one.
