I listened to this on audiobooks but also read it and it was a great immersive way to experience this book!
Es un libro excelente y la película me dejo satisfecha ! No duden en verla y leer este excelente libro del rey !
it's sad when a disturbing dystopian book gives you joy while reading...this is my third time reading it ..I did a reread before watching the movie...I loved the changes they did in the film, but the book will always be better
I read this one a while ago in the Bachman omnibus, and I loved it! I haven’t seen the new movie yet, but I’m excited to.
I‘ve read this one like 2 or 3 months ago after discovering the movie‘s trailer while working at the movie theater in my hometown. I have never been a reader but I thought that reading the long walk might be a great start. Since finishing it (and I loved it so much) I started my goal of not only getting into all of the stuff king has ever touched, but also of discovering the world of reading aswell. I will never forget the Long Walk man
It’s been years since I read that one. I gave it five stars when I did and still remember parts of it vividly. Maybe its time for a re-read especially since there is a movie, which I didn’t know…
Small spoilers!! I wonder what peoples opinion is on the ending especially compared to the movie, I bought this book at a fleamarket and the woman immediately told me how she thought the ending sucked (before I even paid lol) I think the books ending is really good, beter than the movie, but that’s mostly because it fits my reading of the book, I wonder what exactly people (probably the majority) don’t like about the ending and why they find the movie better
I agree the ending is great and I believe it is better than the movie. This book had me hooked from start to finish. 5 stars.

The ending of the book is very bleak. The film offers some vague sense of hope. I like both for different reasons. For me, they both work. I have similar feelings about the endings to both the books & films of Cujo and The Mist.
I think that the moral of the story is that sometimes if u work really hard u can get what u want, but the price you must pay for it, can be too high. In the book he didnt really have the possibility to back down, but in real life we have it. Sometimes it's better to give the real value to things, and balance our greed. A lot of Stephen King book has this message.
I loved this book so much. So can we discuss the fact that Garraty was probably gay. I caught it pretty early on when he described one of the boys as beautiful.
Then the talk he had with McVries about getting a HJ, it totally put into perspective Garraty's feelings about his girlfriend and how he was almost forcing himself (in his head) to say he loved her. And she offered him sex so he wouldn't go on the Long Walk and he didn't want it.
Anyway I think it was handled really well here. And I'm really glad he put it in the book all those decades ago.
As far as the ending of this book, when I first finished it I felt underwhelmed, but Ultimately I thought it was great because the ending doesn't matter. The Long Walk was simply a way to reduce the population by 100 boys every year and that's just what it is. None of them were expected to live and even the ones who live by the end, it's not worth it at all.
...also I wanted to say that after I finished the book, I rented the movie on Apple Movies and I couldn't watch it. First they changed it from 100 to 50. and the first death in the movie was WAY TOO MELODRAMATIC for me. The score, the acting, it was all way overdone for me and I felt like that's not really the feel in the book. The feel in the book is that WE get desensitized to the deaths after a while and it just felt like the movie was going to make a big deal out of each death.
So yeah... I think I might NOT watch KING adaptations from here on out.
Hannibal wrote: "...I think I might NOT watch KING adaptations from here on out"King adaptations are all over the place. As to the newer ones, I have to see if there's anything to compel me to watch. Simply being a King adaptation isn't enough anymore. I've been shying away from the recent fad of adapting with ten-episode miniseries. The stories are often stretched out too much with too much filler. I thought 11.22.63 was pretty good, though. (I did not particularly like George Amberson in the book, but I liked the James Franco version.) So far, there hasn't been anything to make me want to see the IT remake or The Long Walk. A lot of folks seemed to not like the Pet Sematary remake. I gave it a chance and liked it.
