As the New Year starts, it's time to nominate for our March 2026 group read. Please nominate books which were either written in the Golden Age, or a little earlier or later, or are set in that period. If in doubt whether a title is eligible, just ask.

Usual rules apply. Only one nomination per group member. Only one book by any individual writer can be nominated per month, and authors can't nominate their own books. If you aren't sure whether we have read something, the group bookshelves may help, or just ask. If it was at least 3 years ago that we read it, it's fine to re-nominate

We've had no nominations yet - I'm guessing everyone is busy with New Year!

Would everyone be happy if we change tack and do a runners-up poll for this month, then we nominate next month?

Thank you Susan :)

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 5329 comments Same here, runner up poll makes sense. I’d be happy with it from now on, if mods are - we seem to struggle with availability for everyone. At least 6 months of the year would be covered by runners-up!

I'm fine with using runners-up.

Thanks everyone, I'll put the poll up tomorrow! If anyone does put a nomination in this thread, we can save it for next month.

Jackie | 906 comments whatever is easiest for you, Judy. For sure runners-up are a very good option.

OK, I've put a poll together with some books that missed out in previous polls - you can vote here:

We've actually read quite a few runners-up already. The books in the poll are:

Death Walks in Eastrepps by Francis Beeding

The Two Tickets Puzzle (aka The Two Ticket Puzzle) by JJ Conington

Death on the Aisle by Frances and Richard Lockridge

The Vase Mystery by Vernon Loder

Midsummer Murder by Clifford Witting

The Bellamy Trial by Frances Noyes Hart

Jackie | 906 comments my library has both Death on the Aisle and Midsummer Murder so I will chose between those two.

I hope you are not having as much trouble setting up the polls as I am in setting up the threads, Judy. I am sometimes having to wait hours between posting two threads at the moment...

I heard in another group that GR is restricting us to one new thread a day.

That makes sense, Sandy. I used to set up multiple threads. Now I am having trouble setting up a book thread and a spoiler thread. It's very annoying.

That's so annoying, Susan. With the polls I only set up one at a time so it hasn't been a problem so far.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 1037 comments It seems as if Goodreads under Amazon just takes away one thing after another, and there never seems to be a good reason for it.

Early days, but the poll is tied at the moment - please take a look if you haven't done!
