Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments The five additional tags for January are:

dual timeline
feminine rage
New York
polyamory
sword and sorcery

RULES UPDATE: For these additional tags, the books only need to be tagged twice in order to count. Sorry for the mid-game switch up, but I don't want people to have a choice of only 20 books . . . and in some cases, it might be that unfortunate.

Lyn (lynm) | 1244 comments Are these tags part of the list for just this month, or for the rest of the year? Sorry if you already answered this question.

message 3: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 6717 comments Dual timeline could fit with WWI, medieval, or ancient heroes (Percy Jackson for instance) and of course with monthly tag.

Anita said on the instruction discussion they can be read any time.

Thanks. I thought I saw that somewhere, but couldn't find it. Appreciate your help.

message 6: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3571 comments Are these going to be added to the tag list or do we need to add and keep up with them?

message 7: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4638 comments Easiest if we keep up with them probably, Jason - unless Anita adds them to another tab on the spreadsheet, when she has time. I’ve just stuck them under my tracking list so they’re separate.

Great additional tag options! Of course, Murphy’s Law means I’ve just posted a dual timeline story review, so can’t use that one right now … but it’s such a common trope that there will be plenty of other stories during the year.

message 8: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments Good question, Jason! I like Kate’s idea. I will make a third tab and keep them there for reference. Does that work?

Thanks - I was assuming it was just for January!

Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments Announcing the 5 bonus GrabTag tags for February:

colonialism
journey
sword and laser
postmodernism
underrated

message 11: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments p.s. I did add a tab to the spreadsheet with the top 300 tags that lists these bonus tags. You can find that here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

message 12: by Algernon (new)

Algernon | 1219 comments thank you for the organizing list.
The Star Wars universe I think is a great fit for the sword and laser tag

message 13: by Pam (new)

Pam | 573 comments Anita, heads up if it matters:

Underrated only has 35 books that qualify with at least 5 people tagging...

message 14: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 11342 comments I had thought we were supposed to only contribute tags with sufficient options, per Anita's guidelines.

From my personal perspective, 35 seems like too few. Maybe we could reduce the number of required tags to 2 or 3?

Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments Pam wrote: "Anita, heads up if it matters:

Thank you, Pam. I think that is too few. I need to try to find the guidelines I spelled out.

message 16: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9596 comments Okay, I found the guidelines, and I was mostly concerned with the number of books available.

I think Joy's suggestion of reducing the number of tags required FOR THE EXTRA TAGS only is the right answer. For the extra tags, we will say there is a minimum of 2 tags.

Please spread the word.

message 17: by Algernon (new)

Algernon | 1219 comments I have a question about one of the tags, because I know we decided to use the correct spelling for the tags: when I put sword and laser in the search box, Goodreads returned a very long list for 'sword-and-laser' titles.
Can I use this list? and if not, how can I get the other list for 'sword and laser'?
Thank you.

On an unrelated note, I checked the 'underrated' tag and I had a good laugh seeing so many books with ratings over 4.2 and over 500000 ratings each. My real underrated books are those with 200 ratings or less.

thanks, there are a lot of options for this sword-and-laser tag , but curiously none from the Star Wars franchise that I was looking for.

I think you are on the right shelf, but just in case, here's the one you want to use (as Joanne points out, Goodreads always hyphenates between non-contiguous words):

Buddhism
pulp
noir
legal thriller
environmental

message 33: by Algernon (new)

Algernon | 1219 comments I know we decided to keep the original tag spelling, but when I search for 'environmental' books , Goodreads returns a list with 'environment' tags. There's a good possibility that these books include both versions of the tag, but it is a bother when doing research
