Did anyone pick a special book for the first read of 2026? I was thinking to do that but then one of my audio books I borrowed from Libby is going to be returned in 4 days... That pretty much made the choice for me.

I am reading The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf. This is a first time author for me and I love her writing. I was pulled in right away. I'm about halfway through.

Neer | 4 comments I read Mahabharata Folk Variations as my first read of 2026. Enjoyed it.

This is on my wishlist. Shall wait for your final verdict. Contemporary thrillers begin well but the end is usually underwhelming.

@Neer. I am still where I was when I left off last night. I'm sitting here with my head phones on about to hit play when my daughter walked in and has stayed. Velcro kid.

I did something I regret. I looked on Google for a character list, I forgot a name and there were spoilers I wished I didn't see. I would love to say that it didn't ruin the end for me but it did!

Jessica | 1 comments My first read was going to be The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearce because of a year-round advent style book club I’m in (help, it’s really hard for me to not finish a book in one or 2 days), but I ordered it online and I’m still waiting for it to show up. Just finished Empire of Storms by SJM since I only had the audible version and can only listen when my son or husband aren’t there to interrupt me 😂 it took me a month. So I count that as ending one of December’s books. My husband got me a blind date with a book for Christmas that I haven’t gotten to reading yet, so my first start-to-finish book of January will be Rough-neck by Jim Thompson. I love a good mystery book.

Velcro kid😂 I have seen this happen. Just when you reach an interesting point in a book, circumstances conspire to make you leave the book.

I am so afraid of spoilers that I don't even read blurbs nowadays as they give so much of the plot away. But then I end up reading an entire lot of books which leave me frustrated😖

*~•MizBear•~* | 1 comments I wanna read One Of Us Is Lying, and I have like a page left of TMG. But I also low-key wanna reread Heart Check, SUCH A GOOD BOOK but so pissed about the ending :(
