Cat (cat_uk) | 2175 comments Team Guidelines

We'll be using a tracking sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

We are losing DMs (thanks GR!) during this challenge, so it's SUPER important that you check in weekly, or let us know if you are going to be away. I don't know how much grace Mods will give if people vanish, but suspect not, so do try to make a note here or in the tracker sheet if you have problems.

All books will be used somewhere; Danielle and I will put them where they are most handy, which might mean they aren't in the card / task you expect, but - assuming they meet the challenge requirements - they will be used!

It's a fun challenge, so do keep it fun.
We all know that written communications lose a lot of the context that we intend - please assume the best from team members, and don't jump to assumptions!

Cat (cat_uk) | 2175 comments Hello everyone!

Welcome to this latest UNO - I hope everyone's excited? :)

Some intros and admin:

I'm Cat (she/her), captaining with Danielle. We've been GR friends and co-caps for a while now, and have this UNO thing down pat.
I'm based in London, UK, and am usually on GR a LOT. Work has been super hectic recently, so I'm less present during the day, but still checking in daily.

My favourite types of books are space opera sci-fi, fantasy and - lately - crime (easy easy reading during hard times at work)
I've a bundle of yellow covers, waiting. and of course, we don't have many this month - typical!

My shelf is uno-26

Can everyone say hello, where they are, how much UNO experience you have, and how often we'll see you on GRs (critical as PMs are vanishing). If you can post your UNO shelf too, that's really helpful!

Danielle and I generally only let people claim a couple of cards at a time, and usually only the tricky colour cards and reverses.
We use a tracking sheet to note books that we are planning to read, and record when finished, with where it works.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

If you don't want to use the sheet, then you don't have to - just post a completion post here, with the link the book edition you read, date finished and what letters it works for and why.

But mostly - happy reading!

โœฟ~Danielle~โœฟ (dmh1) | 1777 comments Hello team :)

Iโ€™m Danielle (she/her) and Iโ€™m from Wales.

This is my 11th time playing uno, and itโ€™s a fun one and a great way to start off the new year.

My favourite books to read are romance books, with some fantasy, and mystery occasionally thrown in. Iโ€™m much more of a mood reader with just a little plan of what Iโ€™ll read. And do love a challenge to help decided what book to pick up.

Hereโ€™s my shelf uno

Anupama C K(b0rn_2_read) (b0rn_2_read) | 44 comments Hi,
I'm Anupama. I'm in Bangalore, India. This is the first time I'm playing UNO. I usually check GR during 7-8 AM IST on weekdays and randomly on weekends. I love fantasy and thriller books

Anupama C K(b0rn_2_read) (b0rn_2_read) | 44 comments How I claim cards in the spreadsheet?
I can do a reverse with A drop of corruption, Cat has already read it
8 red : Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1) by Ernest Cline
8 blue : Ready Player Two (Ready Player One, #2) by Ernest Cline
Please check if these 2 will work?

โœฟ~Danielle~โœฟ (dmh1) | 1777 comments Hello Anupama

Can you link your uno shelf please?

On the planning sheet (linked in msg 3) on the February tab, you add the book title in column F and then fill in columns M - Y that your book works for. Filling in column H when you finish your book. Cat and I will place your book in a card/hand.

As for your colour cards I donโ€™t think Ready One Player has enough red to work, and not sure on the blue.

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 1162 comments Hi I am Marie based in Leeds UK. I have been playing UNO for several years and usually with Cat Danielle and Sarah
MY shelf is the singularly uninventive UNo 2026 too https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Just a heads on I will be visiting family during the Feb half term so may not be reading as much (12-20th) BUT i will make up around it and I will keep in touch. I am on GR a lot -at all times of day being retired I have more spare time.

I read all sorts but suppose my first love is mystery and crime. I am always up for something unusual in my reading.

This months colours all i can offer at the moment is

7 blue possibly A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan Cannot decide if this is blue green

but can look for fits if needed

Yes, I think those both work for blue.

Sarah | 1016 comments Hi everyone, can't believe it's Uno time again.

I'm Sarah, from the UK, and I've been playing Uno from the start. It did begin what seems to be turning into a lifelong addiction to team challenges - Anupama, you have been warned, haha! I hope you have a great first time with Uno. :)

I love to read almost everything, but rarely dip into horror or romance, and probably read mysteries the most. I will read those terrible cosy mysteries which have so many useful objects on the covers... They're just so useful for tricky tasks!

My shelf is uno-2026

message 23: by Eli (new)

Eli | 67 comments Hi teammates! I'm Eli, I live on the west coast of the US. This is I think my third time playing UNO (and the reason I'm not 100% sure is because I took a year or two off). Happy to be back playing again! Here is my Uno shelf. I check GR pretty regularly - I'd say several times per week, if not every day.

I mostly read romance, mystery, YA, graphic novels, and nonfiction.

โœฟ~Danielle~โœฟ (dmh1) | 1777 comments Welcome Eli

Utkarsha Arvind | 101 comments Hi everyone! I'm Utkarsha (she/her) from Delhi, India. I have been working in publishing for about five years now, but currently on a break from a full-time role to focus on my academic comeback.

My preferred genres at the moment are memoirs, historical fiction, and literary fiction.

This is my third time playing UNO.
Here is my UNO shelf for the year:
uno-2026

I log in to GR quite regularly, so I'll drop updates and comments, if any, every alternative day.

Looking forward to playing with you all!

message 29: by Christy (new)

Christy (christy_t) | 168 comments Hi all! I'm Christy, and I live in Georgetown, TX (suburban Austin) with my 2 small dogs. I work from home as an e-commerce manager.

I've played Uno multiple times (lost count), and absolutely love it. I tend to read romance novels, though once in a while, you'll see me branch out.

I log in to Goodreads mainly on weekdays, while on a break at work, and multiple times a week. I will be taking at least one, maybe 2, trips in March.

Here is my shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

It appears blue to me too, like a dark turquoise.
What is to be done in such cases? Do we get to choose which it is as per our requirement? :P

โœฟ~Danielle~โœฟ (dmh1) | 1777 comments Still a bit to go, but weโ€™re under a week now to starting.

message 49: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1016 comments Ooo fish and chips, mmm. Plenty of vinegar on them?? Lol!

So happy we got to February, even if it's still non-stop rain. There is one single crocus in the garden and the daffodils are about half grown, it's light past 5pm (just) and the start of Uno means spring will get here eventually. I am not a fan of winter!

Started my first book, The Everlasting, which is my next-to-expire library book. My sister gave up on it but I like it so far. Will see how it goes.
