This topic is for those who wish to discuss the finished book. Please use spoiler tags!

Cheryl | 1190 comments I just finished it. I gave it 3 stars. Very much a police procedural, focusing on the facts found by the medical examiner and her forensics team. Sometimes the large info dumps of data were a bit overwhelming for me and I needed to put the book down for awhile.

The killer's identity did make sense. Of course when the facts made it seem like the killer could be the guy she was dating, I knew that was probably a misdirection by the author. (He still turned out to be an asshole, though.) So, I thought the book was good but not great. I don't think I'll be continuing with reading the rest of the series, though. This book was just enough for me.

Sarah (sarahmott) | 476 comments Yeah, I think I’ve read too many of “J.D. Rob’s” crime novels. If there’s no laser guns or super hot Irish billionaires, it’s just not as interesting for me anymore.

Cheryl | 1190 comments For me, I've got to have some interesting characters in a mystery novel. The characters in Postmortem all felt a bit bland.

I am having a hard time concentrating right now, and this book is zero helping. I think I need to move on to something lighter, or at least more interesting. (I am not hating this book, but it also is not grabbing me at all.)

Go ahead and DNF it. I find I really have to be in the right mood to read this author.

I have not read any books this month. This might be a lifetime first.

Wow! I guess you were busy enjoying other things. Frankly, it’s good to take a break from reading. I find I enjoy it more and am less picky when I return to it. Maybe next month’s group read will tempt you to give it a try? If not, that’s fine, too.
