3. We've read several of Robert Hugh Benson's works. Which is your favorite and why?

Up to now I have read five Benson novels and one essay by Benson:

1. Come rack! come rope!
2. Lord of the world
3. By what authority
4. An average man
5. The king's achievement
6. Paradoxes of Catholicism

My favorite is nr. 1, especially because of its ending. The other five I have liked more or less the same.

Mariangel | 736 comments I have read:

1. Lord of the world
2. Confessions of a convert
3. Spiritual letters of Msg. Benson to one of his converts
4. By what authority?
5. An average man
6. The king's achievement

My favorite is "By what authority?". It was the most intense of the books.

In my opinion, this novel is inferior to "The king's achievement," which we read last month. The fictional family in that novel is much better contrived than Roger, his cousin and Dolly.
